Perry era Journey live

I got a chance today to crank up Journey's Live at the Spectrum from 10-15-86. Man what a show.
But I noticed
1) they play fast live. Speed-balling on some songs like DSB.
2) Raised on Radio (the song), still can't understand half of what is being said
3) Jailhouse rock does not fit in
4) LTS is best version of the song, souped up, changed beat, what ever they did.

have to same of my Perry shows, this along with Live in Detroit from 10-9-86 are my two favorite Perry era shows. They really need to do a DVD of that tour.

Anyone got a favorite live boot?-ERIC

I have so many Journey boots....... I can't really pick just one........ or two. :lol:

btw........ there is a new Journey boot on Guitars 101 that someone ripped the audio from the Largo, MD, 1980 concert.

i gotta tell ya that my main cd is the greatest hits live official release.,.. i know the band doesnt like the recording and fans are put off by it ,, but its loud and the guitars are crazy distorted... just all out rock n roll show!!! no acoustic intro for Wheel ect... makes me want to drive really fast!

42,000 of our closest brothers and sisters...aw fuck, I can remember the fucking day! Chicks bumping around in their summer clothes..halter tops, short shorts, tan bare naked feet, etc etc. I was shitfaced during Andy Taylor, sobered up for Journey, and was calling out for a Friga solo at the top of my lungs. I KNOW Friga heard me.

I couldn't agree more.ROR was an awesome tour and I would LOVE to have some video footage from that tour!!
I wish Perry would do a multi set Videology like KISS did recently.
3-4 DVD's per set, raid the Journey vaults and get some of that AWESOME ROR footage they have in the vaults,plus the other vids left off the GH DVD, like Too late and Lovin' You Is Easy!!
The KISS DVD's are excellent and can't wait for the next volume.
What can we do to get this rolling?

awesome show. hellish day. 150 degrees. it was GA bleacher seating. lora & i were in charge of roping off an area for friends, family & force members. spent way too much time arguing with drunk people trying to jump the yellow ropes. got into fights with guys squirting us with water pistols. still, it was one of the best shows ever!

My guess would be raid Perry's batcave full of music and video footage. Or Sony's.
Whatever needs to be done, I'm on board. And I have a list. I want the rest of that Calaveras County show, I want the Detroit show, and I really want the Long Beach show while we're at it - dear god, someone please tell me that show was filmed and that it's under Perry's bed and that he's in a really good mood and wants to release it. :lol:

Never mind all that ... I changed my mind. I want whatever was filmed on that tour. Every bit of it. The 4 videos in the documentary aren't enough. AND ... you know, while I'm still making demands and all, I want Perry himself to put it together because he's the only one who could do it properly. That Houston dvd would probably not even be close to what it turned out to be if someone else had their grubby fat paws on it.

"NIght At The Spectrum" is terrific quality Perry era boot...best of that tour.

JRox sorted me out with the "Reachin' For Long Beach" bootleg recently....the Journey show on New Year's Eve '86/'87....amazing....loved the countdown, the fireworks, and DSB seeing the New Year in....what a show....and Cain's solo was something else too.

Was anyone at this concert?

One of my favorite dvd's is an 1980 from Toyko an awesome set list, I posted the set lis awhile ago and it was great a good concert.

I have a few fronters era shows and I find the speed of the songs very fast, like they are trying too get more songs in. This works on some songs, but not on others.

The Blue Sky Party is a great recording a live version of " The Party's Over" they do Lovin You is Easy, Do You Recall also a song sung by Cain called Too Far Gone I think someone said this was another baby's reject ? Not sure. has a kick ass drum solo by Smitty. This was taped at some point right after Journey became the # ! rock band in the USA. It had too be in the begining of the Escape tour because their was no Open Arms played ( or it wasn't put on the disc).

It't not a DVD, it's CD boot. Not the best quality ROR boot out there, but it's a good concert. Carol, I'll try to put a boot or 2 up over the holidays.

What is the problem with this Mountain Aire video...everyone seems to want this ROR tour on DVD - what's the hold up, I wonder?
I don't have many boots but I especially love the Budokan '83 because "Still They Ride" is on it - my fave Journey song & haven't seen video of SP singing it anywhere else & it really is a beautiful version. Also, the Live radio show of '79? where SP sings, "Patiently" like a choir of angels is a fave.

I was there too, 16yrs young at the time. Man what a great day and concert. Everything that a concert should be: Great music, good looking gals, hot weather, skimpy cloting. Loved the squirt gun/spray bottle water fights. Definately one for the record books. I still hold out the slimest hope we will get a DVD of this show someday. "Thanks for the memories......"

The Mountain Aire show in 86 was to this day the best performance I've every seen.

And yeah, it was hotter than @#$%. Which had its benefits too.

Only downside..Mike Baird on drums.

I'd rate "Night At The Spectrum," a soundboard from Phialdelphia, PA as #1 and "Live On Radio," of course a radio broadcast from Joe Louis Arena Detroit, MI as #2.....oddly enough the former has better sound then the latter despite LOR being professionally done for radio.
Oh, and if I never hear Journey covering mowtown songs again, I will croak a happy person.

Agreed, the Detroit and Philly are the best quality ones (Ohio isn't too bad). There is two different Detroit versions out there.....the normal one, then there is the Japan radio/satelite broadcast of it, which has a couple extra songs.
Also, maybe not Journey covering motown, but Perry sure can. Personally, the 'JailHouse Rock' they did on ROR tour sure isn't a fav of mine, but I thuroughly enjoyed 'Stand By Me'. Matt, if you don't have one of those I can put one of them up (yousendit) sometime over the holidays. You being a big ROR fan too, you'll enjoy it.

I've noticed that they have always played AWYWI too fast. Jailhouse Rock and the Perry solo stuff doesn't fit. As far as my favorite boots- I have many, but my favs are the ones from the Infinity and Evolution tours, I have one from Departure that is great, and one from Escape in East Troy (love that one because they play some old stuff and there is no open arms).
