Question for Andrew about "The News"

Hey Drew...

Let me preface my remarks by saying that I am looking forward to your interviews with the guys in Journey and hoping that some of these interviews have some answers that are a bit more than the standard "fluff" answers that most of these guys give (i.e. Steve Perry's fluff pieces)!

I personally think the whole "news" or "official announcement" is mostly irrelevant and honestly am not sure why it's made out to be this big story on this board and BT. Let's be honest here...Journey has been musically irrelevant for many, many years, and outside of these boards, this announcement won't be on anyone's radar. I will personally continue to be a Journey fan, regardless of when or what the announcement is. I guess my larger point is that everyone already knows what the announcement is going to be, as this is the worst kept secret I've ever come across! If everyone already knows what the answer to the question is...why is everyone seemingly so stressed about an announcement from a band from our youth? We all know that Soto is in, and Augeri is out, so there isn't exactly a whole lot of drama here, while awaiting an answer.

My question to you Drew is...Are you holding up the publishing of your interviews on your own volition and out of your respect for the guys in Journey, or were you specifically asked to hold off publishing these interviews by anyone on the Journey team? I would imagine there would be nothing legally holding you back from publishing these interviews, as Journey isn't exactly classified material. If you can't comment on the holdup, I certainly understand. As I stated in this post, it isn't much of a big deal to me. That said, it seems to be the only topic of discussion in both places over the past month and a half.

I'm pretty sure that Drew has said before that holding off his info
was 'his' idea; call it a very good judgement call and a way to keep in
good faith with a band he has ALWAYS loved and supported.

As for the Official Statement now being irrelevant, yea, to most it is...
But there are many here and 'there' that cannot or will not let the rest of us
or the band move on until they hear it 'Officially' on the Official site.
you know what I'm talking about...

Carlitto, I agree with you as well. And, I am not one of those!! LOL Andrew COULD NOT release his work until this is solved. If nothing else, from a legal standpoint. No, not necessarily from his standpoint, but this would have given the band shit that it could take A LONG TIME to resolve. Andrew has done all he can, and has done it in a professional, respectful way. Hell, people here who I think much of have told me to be patient. I understand. It has to be this way. If Andrew goes forward, this could take MONTHS to resolve. Kudos to Andrew for looking out for Journey. Holding off will be better for all. Once again, I am one of the 'impatient' ones of the lot, but all will understand soon enough. Real soon I believe.

Just be straight with the fans that still care. Admit you made a mistake as a group and that you are trying to correct it. Be HONEST with the most loyal of fans you have - the people that post on message boards, that throw preconcert parties in your honor, that buy your swag, that buy your tickets the moment they go on sale, that die to get an autograph or dream of taking a picture with the band. Stop hiding behind generic press releases and bending the people over that do really bend over backwards to keep Journey relevant in their lives. Get this shit over with and tell us what Journey is going to do and mean what you say. Don't promise dvd's that never see the light of day and don't go back into the studio unless you are truly serious about making good music; the kind of music that drew us all to Journey in the first place.

Thanks Lula! I'm a little fired up tonight!! I think we all have a right to be a little grumpy right now -- even though it is Christmas.

Sometimes I think the Journey machine is just so tired and rundown and they constantly expect all of us to refuel it. It gets a little old and I get pissed at myself for caring too much.

Great post Gibby! Tough to disagree with your perspective on things. I suspect this thing really can't drag on a whole lot longer than it has. Then again, I recall saying those same words about a month ago!

The NEWS about Journey has been canceled. Thank you. We now return you to your previously scheduled program, already in progress.
