I think they could honestly give a shit about what any of us think and that's too bad. But they have remained distant and detached for some time now. Jeff has been a breath of fresh air and I hope that once he is 'official' that he doesn't have to tow the same bullshit line that the rest of the band and/or management seem to advocate. Jeff is a fan and he knows what fans would like to see and hear from Journey. I hope his ideas are accepted and his influence is felt. I think he knows what a good official website should include beyond just a store and a message board.

The sad fact is that there are too many people on this board and other boards who either pander after Journey, or think they have all the answers about Journey. Who CARES if Journey make an announcement? It will be "politically correct" anyway. Who CARES if the interview ever gets posted? It will also be "politically correct." Who CARES if one of them blows their nose? It won't be politically correct, but no one will notice.

It doesn't matter because in the end, whatever is placed up here or elsewhere will become a source of interpretation, arguments, bias and all the rest and ultimately NONE of what's said here will matter.

I stopped caring a while ago. Unless Journey produces new music and plays it in concert, they will have become truly passe. Oh NOOOOO, I've repeated myself again! Who cares? This board and most other forums thrive on repetition. No one's immune and all participate, in spite of the fact that a few think they don't.

Crap, look at Journey - they've been repeating themselves for YEARS and yet people go "Whoo hooo! I'm going to another Journey concert to hear the same 12 tunes and I'm going to go as many times as possible this summer! Yeah baby!" It used to be "Augeri is the BEST! He's the bomb!" Now it's, "Whoo hoo, JSS is the BEST! He's the MAN!" yada, yada, yada. Yet it's the same music that was made famous by a frontman who helped CREATE the sound!

It's too funny for words...but I'll try to think of some words so that I can post something because checking in here over the past week or so, it's obvious that people ran out of things to say months ago.

My goodness, the things people here pick apart and argue about and debate...I mean at least Iran has chosen to "debate" something interesting like "Did the Holocaust REALLY happen?" Of course, they look like complete idiots as they try to negate actual history, but anyone with any semblance of intelligence knows where they're going with that one!

Hey, but let's talk about whether or not JSS can really hit the highs (he can't without straining) and if he'll really get Journey off the ground (no because Neal is too chicken to play anything new in concert) and will they produce new music (probably) and will it be played in concert (no), or whether or not Perry will record again (ask what's his name - he knows that Perry has been in the studio recording and in 2007 there will be blah, blah, blah) and all the rest of it.

Who CARES? Journey IS passe. There is NOTHING Journey can do to bring back their glory days. Nothing. The BEST that they can do is produce new music, play it in concert and hope that it "hits." More likely though, they will continue to do what they've done for the past 8 years or so, since Augeri signed on, proving beyond doubt that they belong to ...yesterday.

God, even Ritchie Blackmore is into something completely different than Deep Purple tunes...

Well said, and I couldn't agree more. Jeff does seem to be a touch of class for the band, but a drop of clean water in a piss bucket still makes a bucket of piss. I really hope they won't taint Jeff with their paranoia an anal fixations.

I'm going to go on hoping that the vitality and sense of change that Jeff has delivered will drive this band in a new direction. His disappearance from the boards and the continued silence from the Journey camp makes me a little nervous. I would hate to see him have to play the 'politically correct' game too.

I agree Fred that Journey has become passe except to those of us that keep going to show after show knowing we are going to keep seeing the same show. Speaking for myself, I keep going because I hold on to my past and the music I loved as a kid - but it is beginning to wear thin even for me. I blame the band and management for the same old shit. Taking any kind of risk, to them, means risking money of their own. Neal still bitches how much money he lost trying to get SSirkus going. Generations was a nice idea to make but a disaster in the making. Taking a few rejects from Arrival, a few songs penned by Augeri, rehashing an old original, and throwing in a Cain ballad is not an honest effort in my opinion - even if it was a give away.

They do have a legit frontman/vocalist now and possibly one last attempt to make some noise.

The old expression is "why fix it if it ain't broke?" Well their cautious formulas have worked for them in the past, they could have done better, but they are still going strong and bringing in some bucks so I guess management says...its fine. The legal wrangling involved in the business must be horrendous, but if they really want to get on fire then they need to listen to the message boards-people have told them what they want. As far as not hearing from Jeff on here ...he's tired, very very tired. Let the guy enjoy his holidays with his family and recharge, even Journey is probably sick to death of Journey.

I think they really do care what we think Gibby. I also think they would really much rather have kept the momentum of the postive reaction to Jeff and their successful tour going by letting Andrew post the interviews. The legal BS has to be at least as frustrating to them as it is to us.

Don't give up on them yet. Jeff has a lot to bring to the band and I think they know it. He'll get his chance, we just have to be here for them when they're through with all the hassles.

The way I see it, if we hand't been tipped off that the announcement that JDouble is going to be made official at some point here then we'd STILL be waiting anyway to find out what we know. Augeri cannot continue his duties, has been relieved of duty, whatever you want to call it and JSS is taking over.

But we're lighting the torches and grabbing pitchforks to set out after them about the timing of a business announcement?

I agree! except.....people think of Journey as their family since they've been with them so long, supported them, etc. So...maybe its kind of like a baby gettting ready to be born...people want to celebrate the new birth in the family.

It's true. As far as I'm concerned it happened in July, I'm more interested in what they actually say in the end.

Agree with everyone here...Its not THAT big a deal anymore...They could have made it big deal, but chose not too....That said when and if the interviews see any light.... I am more interested in how long Journey will be Journey, when the next record will come out, what does JSS think about all of this, etc... My guess is now that nothing will be said until before the 2007 season (tour)begins in March.

Dude, I am well aware of how much time things can take in the business world. I have my own S-Corp comprising four businesses. I will repeat what I said...I really don't care because even when the announcement IS made, it will be "politically correct" in every way. It will in effect say nothing, but look as if it does.

As I said before...who CARES? I don't. Just because I actually STATE that, it does not insinuate the OPPOSITE because I stated it. It actually means that I do not care about the announcement, the interview or the next few years of Journey playing the same tunes on the touring circuit.

The band that currently calls itself 'Journey' has two choices.

1. Convince Steve Perry to rejoin them in the band. Give Steve up to one year to prepare for a comeback, and then make a new CD. Tour, and be selective. Steve Perry gives the band INSTANT CREDIBILITY. Steve Perry is what 95% of the population recognize Journey as being.

2. If Steve Perry rejoining Journey is an imposibility continue with the current band and change the name. Backed by the vocals of Jeff Scott Soto & Deen Castronovo they could eaisly pull this off. On another 'assembly line' I used Velvet Revolver as an example as to what the members of 'Journey' could accomplish. I was basically told my example was bogus because Journey is a nursing home band, and Velvet Revolver is a younger generation band. I beg to differ:

Velvet Revolver's lead singer Scott Weiland was born in 1967
Velvet Revolver's lead guitaristin Slash was born in 1965
Velvet Revolver's Duff McKagen was born in 1964

Both Jeff Scott Soto and Deen Castronovo were born in 1965. These two (JSS & Deen) should be the main attraction and focus of the new band. Neal, Jonathan, and Ross should take a Carlos Santana type approach with their new band. This band should feature the vocal strengths and passion of Jeff and Deen.


If number one is not an option. The only choice for this band to not turn into a high paying Vegas Lounge act, or a warm up band is #2.

ALL the pieces are in place, if Steve Perry is no longer an option retire the name, and move on.

Steve Perry begged Neal not to fracture the Journey name. With tapegate and their current direction that is EXACTLY what Neal has done.

Perhaps somewhere in the amount of a few million or so????

Carlitto, you are missing the point. The fact that it "is a business" is why everything the band has done lately is just a nightmare. Pissing on your dinner plate is not only bad manners but disgusting. The legal stuff takes time and must be right, thats true, but you have to play the game along the way, and they didn't, showing they are just stupid.

The fact that they never said "steve sends his thanks for support" or "we'll have an update on his ----- by" or Happy Thanksgiving from the Augeri's" just proves how stupid and clueless the band is.

Guess how much the "no hardfeelings" bull shit that will come eventually is going to look when it does come, because Journey are such sloppy and pathetic managers. The music really better be unbelievable, because this Augeri think has hurt a lot of hard core fans on the other side who might not come back. Hmmmm, some people don't like betrayal I guess.

I did not attend the tour this year - sorry but I have heard the dirty dozen too many times. I can hear them live plenty from the comfort of my home without fear of tapegate. And when did they decide the Milli Vanilli solution was the right way to manage the Journey "legacy"?

Your right. I don't disagree. Herbie should have had the nutsack to tell Perry to go for another solo album with the "ideas" he brought to the ROR sessions. I hate ROR for the most part - its a Steve Perry solo album. ROR was the first swing in the wrong direction and Neal tried to right the course and put his name back on the band and we got Generations.

No YOU miss the point. Most fans who attend the concerts, buy the albums especially the catalogue have NO idea any announcement, however poorly the secret is kept in our little eworld, is queued up and stalled.

Journey can't worry if those of us online who've got no stinking life but to wait on this are losing sleep. They've got to cross every t and dot every i (and so does Steve Augeri) or history may repeat itself and something will happen like TWO former singers will have no show gigs "in" Journey.
