Anyone know if this is availiable anywhere in Region 2 encoding (UK) as had a look for it on the UK Amazon site and it only returned the US Region 1 version. Yet, a guy's review mentions that it is now availiable in Region 2

Would love to get a hold of it without the added expense of having to find a region-free DVD player to play it on.

I don't have it but I saw it at Virgin Megastore not too long ago. Maybe check there if you have 1 near you.

Augeri had yet to refine his stage presence and the vocals have been sweetened to the point of misrepresenting him as a vocal god in the same league as Deyoung and Perry.


Musically though, it's stellar.
Neal is even better today.

Worth it for La Raza alone. Fyre's dream Journey will forever live in that 8 minutes of that concert dvd.

I still like the DVD alot, even though it has been "sweetened" as TNC says. I am sure many, many DVDs have been "sweetened" also that we don't know or care about. Some musical highlights for me are La Raza del Sol and Filmore Boogie. The band does not have the energy on stage of the 80s (no one runs around or anything like that), but it is still an entertaining concert in my opinion. Neal and Deen really shine in this DVD.

Definately worth having in my opinion.

Big difference. The 81 DVD was "fine tuned" to compensate for the lack of technology back then. The 2001 DVD was manipulated WITH today's technology to make up for a sub-standard singer. Huge difference.

Sometimes I wonder how many of the newer DVDs these days are "enhanced" with modern tecnology to make the singers sound better. Something makes me think it is alot more widespread than we here think it is. Not saying it villifies a band, and I am not excusing bands for doing it.

I picked up the latest Whitesnake DVD a while back. Love the DVD, but it left me thinking that Coverdale may have had some help there. I don't know for sure, but it makes me wonder. Don't get me wrong though, I still think the DVD kicks ass.

I've heard that the Whitesnake dvd is nowhere near what Coverdale actually sounds like live now.....I don't really care, long's as it's HIM doing his own overdubs and then there is the whisper someone brought up a while back that Roger Waters' "live" shows nowadays make TAPEGATE (tm) [How ya like me, Lizzy?? ] seem liver than live by comparison.

Yeah except Waters couldn't really sing to begin with. I don't quite understand how Roger Waters shows work...he was the creative genius, sure, but as far as live performance goes, it was Gilmour who was doing the most prominent instrumental work and the lions share of the singing. The Waters show just seems like a tribute band with a brilliant musical director. Wouldn't surprise me if he was using tapes though.

Depending on your DVD player you can go to www.avforums.co.uk and you'll find an upgrade to make it play any region. I did exactly that and bought a USA copy for pence (Denon 1730 upscaler).

Its a great DVD; the playing is spot on and the 5.1 is kicking. I know there are fixes throughout as there is with ANYTHING post Pro Tools and even way before that.

I can't find anything to knock Augeri on to be honest (apart from dodgy trousers); why some people continue to give him a kicking even way back in 2001, when he was pretty much on top of his game is purile. He did a good job for fucks sake. You fail to comprehend that Perry's voice wouldn't have gone the distance also by that time. Just take it for what it is - a good snapshot of them at that time.

I've seen some recent live boots of Whitesnake on Youtube and they are pretty faithful to what Coverdale sounds like on the DVD. I do think they did some fixing up but I also don't think it's anything major.

I did notice, though, that Coverdale often pulls that little trick of turning the mic to the audience to sing some of the tougher parts quite often.

I also said the Augeri dvd had been sweetened and falsely represents Steve Augeri's vocal capabilities.
