Journey Q & A Session

Well, just got home from a nice Friday night out in the town with some friends who absolutely love Journey's music ( my "fault" for getting them hooked, lol) ...
They don't speak English so I am the one that keeps them updated about what's happening both in the Journey and Perry camps.
They are fascinated by the entire history of this band and I have been telling them about the passionate fanbase and then about all this trouble caused by the delayed official announcement...

Among other things, they were surprised that Perry keeps in touch with his fanbase at least once a year, even if he is not professionally active, while Journey does not interract with the fans regularly through a similar Q&A type of thing, although the band is very active.
That was their first reaction,as outsiders.
My friends just didn't understand why can't the band be more close to their fans, considering that they still have so many faithful followers...
Well,I told them that they do meet & greets, interviews and that the new lead singer ( ) is very opened and close to the fans, posting occasionally on the boards.
Still, the question remained:why not do a Q&A,all of them, couple of times per year, and so keep the fans informed properly?

That made me think how great it would be for that to happen.
Nothing is better than getting answers directly from the band.Fans are hungry for info, all kinds of info.
They want to know about the band's plans, about the way a tour works, about how do they work together, what do they do when they stop touring, how do they write the songs,etc,etc...Not to mention the "tough" questions...LOL

Anyhow,I am sure the fans would have TONS of questions, and by answering them Journey would gain a lot of respect and credibility.
Of course that Andrew is doing a great job by putting together interviews with the band members, but he is a journalist, his insight is professional.
I am talking about questions coming from fans all over the US and the world...Different story.

The idea would be this: could Journey do something similar to the Perry Q&A sessions?
Could Andrew be Journey's "fan asylum" type of connection between the band members and the fans?

Andrew, you think you could do a thing like this once or twice a year? You are friends with the band, can you ask them if they would like to do it?
I don't think it would be difficult to set up an e-mailing system for all the 5 members where the fans could send their Questions and then post the band's answers on MR. :)

I for one, would love to see such a Q&A session!

Until Andrew can answer this (I respect his wish to take some time off),we can vote.

I think it would be an excellent move and I would encourage them to take some of the hard questions as well.

I voted for yes, but agree with #3 - they probably couldn't answer the tough questions.

What's the use? Even the interviews from Andrew, if they ever get posted, will be watered down.

I agree, they wouldn't answer the hard questions any more than Perry does, but it would still help reinforce the connection between them and their fans.

I voted for yes...and I think they would do that through Andrew....we could send questions to Andrew and he would forward them to the boys and they could fax back their answers and Andrew could post it on his front page , but HERE, first of course.....

That would be the ideal scenario Carol, but if they did something like this it would have to go through the "Official" site. Of course that would mean it would all be about (the wiggler). So, my guess is, it's not going to happen. :(

i really thought the offical site was opened a few years ago to get close with the fans, answer questions,,and sell some product.. i remember first running accross the offical site shortly after it opened!!! each band member was asked 10 or so questions,, we all know the questions and answers as they are still posted there, same ones, nothing new,,. the band has nothing left to say,, cains site is dead, neal spoke of guitar lessons on his site 8 months ago, nothing came of it... JEFF who isnt in the band has tons going on.. gee ,, who is JEFF's manager???? maybe he promotes himself,, if so, he is good at it,, the only life that band has seen in years,, and they wont hire him..

i voted that it would be a good move, the only move,,(groucho)

Great idea. Andrew could do a great job on this too (altho it would be extra work for him, poor guy).

I wonder tho, how many "rude" questions would be submitted? I wonder how many of the questions Perry gets are discarded b/c they're just plain rude?

My guess would be several and many of them probably dealing with the hard questions.

It would be nice to get a honest Q&A feature, but we can't even get basic Info on what's happening with the band ..For a band that has been around 30 plus years, they seem to just be happy touring only ? ..Everything is wrong, official site sucks, no pr, no label, no new music, no dvd's etc..Even though I really like Jeff and think he is a great edition, I'm not going to ass kiss and sugar coat everything..

Thanks for the info, cyndy....thats because we all love and miss him...Is there any hope for the future of hearing him again?
I'm getting older by the minute since I was born in the same decade as Steve, and I would love to hear him sing again before I lose my hearing....Carol (Granny)

LMAO. See AR's all talk. He didn't have the guts to send in the questions he said he would.

BTW, thanks Cyndy. Nice to know that people actually have manners when sending in questions.

As do we Cyndy...as do we. I'm just happy he's doing the Q&As again. Reminds me of SPIN.

Yeah, me too. I'm just about a year younger than Steve and I'm not ready to write either of us off as too old. 8)

 Funny,I have the same feeling....although I wasn't around when the S.P.I.N. was up and running.
It would be so nice if it would come to life again.
Here's hoping.

Written interviews are boring. I'd like to see a "live chat." Submit 20-40 questions to the band and let them pick 10-20 that they would be willing to answer. Then have Andrew interview them with streaming media. Obviously, with what's taken place over the last year they're gonna be hesitant to have an "open" Q&A. This would be a great way to answer some questions, yet not have to answer the "big one(s)."
