Predicting the New CD.....

I bet it's the best CD Journey has put out in years! I also predict that Deen will have at least one lead vox song on the CD.

Jeff is to AOR, Journey-rock as what Michael Jordan was to NBA basketball! If there is anybody (other than Perry himself) who can give Journey success it's Jeff. He has given me a reason to go back to singing again myself!

So what's the name of the CD gonna be?

Conquest? Phoenix? Mobius? Freedom? Atmosphere?

Should call it, "Honesty" or "Alive!"

I know Augeris solo release already;

"Help Wanted." "Plug and Play."

I predict the next album will be the best thing the band has done since the 80's.
Neal says he is writing some prime melodic material for Jeff to sink his teeth into.
I say this is nothing new.
The only difference now is Neal's premium riffs are not being outsourced to side bands that happen to feature Jeff.
They stay right in Journey where they belong.

Fuckin A!

They write gems like Believe in Me and there you have it. No more Butterfly Bullshit.

I like to listen to Believe in Me and Coming Home and pretend they're songs from a new Journey album with Jeff. They have such a classic Journey vibe. If the new album is anything like these two songs we are in for a huge treat.

I don't think this lineup will be able to write any clunkers. Drew, you might as well give it a 100% now.

We may once again experience complete & utter joy listening to the new Journey CD & immediately liking every single track. Wow. It's been a while.

Question from an ignorant one...:

Was there this much excitement about Journey when it was decided that they would move forward with Steve Augeri? I'm very excited about what's gonna happen, but I'm trying to get a feel for how this 'new direction' differs from how things were back in the late 90's.

It's a sincere question. Help me.

You read my mind again. 8)

Enough "water" has gone under that proverbial "bridge" for me regarding the Classic / New Journey situation....Jeff seems to be the man to bring back the Journey status, IMO.

Yes there was.
The first concerts with Augeri were also exciting. That was mentioned in one of the recent interviews.
I just hope that this isn't the 'new car smell' period and that the excitement really does translate
onto a new CD and that momentum builds. I have been supportive of Augeri and probably not as supportive of JSS because nothing was finalized. Now that it is, I have to support the new band and I sincerely hope the new
album kicks ass. I hope that it still sounds like Journey. I'm sure it will as long as Cain is also still there.

With Arrival, I think Sony and the management tied Journey's hands. They wanted the Ballad-Heavy version of the band and Arrival pretty much gave us that. It was still a good album in my opinion but pretty soft in spots.
Then there was Red 13 which for me wasn't that great and then Generations which had some great songs on it but as an entire album could've been better. At least there were some good rock songs on it.

I hope that because of JSS's previous stuff that if Journey DOES get picked up by a major label, that they won't try and pull the same deal that happened with Arrival and let them be what they are now.
