Does anyone remember a few years back John Kalodner hinted that he knew something about Journey. I think Kalodner was at a concert and was asked why he wasn’t more involved with Journey and his answer was something like he would not get involved with them “with the information he had”. That comment was cause for a lot of discussion at the time. Everyone was second guessing what information he could have had and was there some dark secret about Journey that he knew. Eventually everyone ran out of ideas and the whole episode died down.

Now that I think back to that comment, maybe the information he had was that Augeri’s voice was shot and that‘s why he didn‘t want to get involved with them any more. I’m not sure exactly when this was, but it could have been around 2003. Anyone remember??

Actually I do have a vague memory of something like this. I don't remember the exact context or when it was, which tells me it was probably a few years ago, but I remember discussions about it.

If I remember correctly, I think this was part of the Q&A over on Kalodner's website.

Can't recall the exact date.
Dig thru his Q & A archives on his site and I'm sure you can find it.
When I initially read it, I started sending JDK hate mail for that.
My what a difference a few years can make.
In retrospect, "knowing what I know" prolly does refer to the use of tapes.

There was also an online rumor that JDK was seen at a Main Event concert shaking his head thru Journey's set and leaving early! Not sure if I read that here or at BT.

It was a question (paraphrasing) like: "Is there room for the current lineup in Sanctuary stable of artists?"

And he replied, "I would not sign Journey to do new recordings with the information I have at this time."

One of the more interesting Kalodnerspeak comments he'd ever made to me....


then it seemed to be all moot when Sanctuary picked up Generations.

Thanks TNC I was beginning to think I was the only one who thought that remark was really strange at the time. I thought it was around the time of the Main Event too.

I also wonder, since he was/is such good friends with Perry, if Perry also knew about this long before any of us did.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit. They have too many mutual connections for Perry not to have at least gotten wind of it.
