Journey, would you consider this?

Having a single duet with Amy Lee from Evanescence? She helped a no-name band in Seether score a hit single, and I can just imagine how awesome it would be with a top notch band such as Journey! I know that some hardcore fans wouldn't want this, and no, I don't believe Journey needs help from anybody else, but I would love to see Amy Lee and Journey doing something together! Evanescence is my all time favorite modern rock band, and I think this would be awesome! Okay, I'll admit, I want to have a love fest with Amy Lee! I could stare in her eyes forever! (As Greggie looks up to realize everybody in the forum is looking at him like he's an idiot. Greggie gets up carefully and runs away!)

Well, I can tell you that I'm one fan who has ZERO desire to hear Journey singing a duet with some chick! Sorry...Just not my thing! I know it's been thrown around on this board in the past, but I think Journey needs to make themselves musically relevant again without the aid of gimmicks! This isn't the NFL..."trick plays" aren't going to get the job done!

Agreed....don't want to see some cheesy duet with someone, even if it meant some more exposure and a single. I don't think it's worth it.......then what happens after that? ....more duets? Jeff doesn't need any help imo! They need to stay true to the Journey sound....write some awesome new tunes....get a hit from Jeff singing....alone!

One questions though: Why would they not have the Journey sound if they did a duet? What exactly will be the Journey sound with JSS? We're all hoping for a harder rockin' Journey....

Duets are usually always cheesy..so my question to you.....how would that be harder rocking? Have you been? Jeff has learnt the material well and is singing the songs as written.....and as far as in the future......Jeff has been doing stuff alot harder rocking than Journey.....so I'm sure between him and Neal there will be some rockers......and Jon and Jeff can bring a few ballads too.

Has there ever been a good duet between a man and woman rock singer? I am sure there are tons of duets, but the only duet I can even think of is Ozzy and Lita Ford, and that one was pretty sad. The Seether thing was more of a background vocal on an Evanescence track, really not a true duet. There is only one duet that rises above mediocrity and gimmicks - that is the incomprable Lionel Ritchie and Diana Ross singing "Endless Love."

Stevie's vocals make my skin crawl. It may be sacriledge to some to hear me say that but...Never got into her at all. That goes for the unlistenable "Leather and Lace" with her and Don Henley. Patty Smyth and Don Henley had a half way decent sounding duet back in 1992 (?), but methinks the era of pop/rock duets like that has come and gone. If Journey were country artists, an idea like that might be more viable.

SDMHA is one of my all-time favorite songs. I never get tired of it. The only male/female duet I can say that about.

Okay, well if they didn't do a duet how about one song with Journey playing and having a guest singer on their album or a single? I could totally hear Shakira with Journey, she did a fabulous job with Santana. I would love to hear Shakira sing with Jeff, they would look great together on stage too!

Not where Journey need to be. Jeff can bridge the gap back to give Journey credibility again and also sidestep the grungy shite that has now become ubiquitous - who wants to hear more f*ckin Nickelback bollocks?
So many kids are discovering old Van Halen for example and Journey could be in that sector - appealing on a musical level to fans who grew up with Journey I (about 35-55 now) and also a credible thinking mans hard rock feel with new material that has great melody but a much harder edge.
They really could do this and play the dirty doz in the live set with no probs!

Sorry NIG, I agree with Jeremey. Stevie's vocal vibrato sounds like a goat and grates on my nerves. Don't mind Fleetwood Mac though when she is not the only singer all the time.

thats a dumb ass idea! Just because you like a certain singer does not mean that everyone else does. Her voice doesn't even match their music, and if there was to be a duet it would have to be someone with a lower register.

I thought Henley and Patty Smyth sounded pretty good together. I agree with you on the whole Stevie Nicks thing. She is viewed in many circles as a legend woman rocker, but has never been my cup of tea. I'll take Ann Wilson's vocals (Heart) ANY DAY! That woman could sing her ass off!

They were both great in their primes. I remember Heart was one of the first groups I liked as a kid. This is back in 1977 or so.

Ann's amazing. But the funny thing is, women rock vocalists were just never my cup of tea. There are some great ones out there, but for some reason my favorite women vocalists never fell into that catagory. Give me any of these over any of the greatest hard rock singers any day:
• Oleta Adams
• Roberta Flack
• Tina Turner
• Sade
• Bjork
• Bonnie Raitt
• There's an amazing contemporary gospel singer with one of the best voices I've ever heard. Can't recall her name.

Seems like you go for the Soulful sound. My wife's like that. Loves Norah Jones, Joss Stone, Bonnie Raitt etc. But for hard rock I think Ann Wilson is one of the best.
