One thing makes me sad...

Postby ArnelRox » Fri Dec 22, 2006 6:30 pm

I know most of the Journey fans won't understand this. But as I've discovered all of Jeff's past work, I feel sad that I never got to experience it live. Damn. I wish I could fly to Europe to see the upcoming Talisman tour in April, especially as it will be their last, but the treatments I have to go thru won't make that possible right now. Marcel is totally amazing. OMG he makes the bass sing all by himself. Songs like Mysterious & Skin on Skin should have been hits here in the US. It's a crying shame they weren't. & then the ballads. Oh they're beautiful. I can't help but wish this new Journey line up was a bit more like the Queen/Paul Rodgers thing (not that I like that lineup of Queen) but I'd love to hear a little Jeff solo/Talisman/Eyes & even Yngwie stuff at a Journey show. I know that won't happen & Journey fans wouldn't dig it. But damn, it would be hot. So much great music I'll never see live.

I've seen a few of Jeff's solo shows and they are not to be missed. I will be going to the Sheffield Talisman show. I too hope that Jeff will at least find time to continue doing periodic solo shows during his busy Journey schedule - it would be a shame to not be able to see/hear his own material live.

I have to agree with you Susie.....after seeing the dvds of his previous work.

Mark, was that you who posted awhile back about being at the Gods concert? LOL, were you close enough to see you on the dvd? Very cool, that would have been a great one to see LIVE.

Even though you feel sad you never got to experience the Talisman shows live back in the day, you should be happy that because of Jeffs involvement with Journey you did get a chance to hear the music at all. I mean, its just unbelivable that a band like Talisman never got any publivity in US. With all their hits back then, they wouldve kicked some major ass. If Bon Jovi and Def Leppard can sell millions of records, Talisman couldve done the same too only if they had the right promotion. When I ran the fan club for Talisman back in early 90's, I was always dissapointed in the poor promo material I received from the record company.
As much as I would love to see Journey do some Talisman songs here and there, just like yourself I doubt that it will happen, but who knows,,, stranger things have happend before.
I just hope that Journey somehow gets Marcel involved in the bands songwritting. As Susie said, he is just AMAZING!.
