Monker is an idiot! What does he/she know anyway...the songs rocks and JSS is great on this song...especially with Neal on guitar...they are awesome together...

It's good, but nothing special. To add a "cover" to the Journey catalog would take a lot more than what that song offers. Again, it's good, but not THAT good.

Why isn't it special? For the kind of song it is, I think its great!

I am sure Jeff can bring some other material to the table and will. I just think this song is great and deserves a wider audience. Fuck, Butterfly is on a Journey album (puke).

"Believe in Me" has the necessary energy required and it is not unheard of for a musician to bring a previously recorded song into a new project. Plus Neal played on it.

What kind of song is it? It doesn't have soaring vocals and it certainly isn't awe inspiring musically. It's a good song...that's all. Let Journey be Journey. We'll get organic music. There's NO need to live in the past, in ANY capacity. The future is bright. Don't dim it with "what was"...let it turn into "what is." Pretty simple.

Even if it doesn't make it onto a Journey album, I'm sure they'll occasionally include it in a live set. Played live it really rocks and I know both Jeff and Neal really like the song. I even heard a rumour they considered playing it in the just finished tour, but the timing of the announcement probably made it politically not the right thing to do.

I'd LOVE if it was played live & I'd be happy if it was on an album. Awesome song. Very Journeyish.

Played that for my hubby today as he had never heard...and his words were...He fits that song better than the Journey songs, but that that song sounds like Journey music....a new album with new songs with Jeff on lead will be so awesome especially with Neal and Jon writing with Jeff...

I have made him a Journey and JSS fan....He has always liked music and plays it in the car all the time but is shy in public to sing or dance, but got him moving in Baltimore.....

The new album will be fantastic.....I had a conversation with Jeff at the party and he said they already have 2 songs done and recorded..I have kept quiet about this until the official word came out...We are so lucky to have Journey for a second go round in our lifetime....They will be on radio!!!!IMO

I love that song, I would love to see it added to a new Journey album. But like you said, I doubt that'll happen.

Clean out your ears. That song is better than anything off Gens, 13, Arrival, and TBF. Flatout smokes.

I'd say it's better than anything off of the first 3 and better than MOST, but not all of, TBF. Again, my MAIN point of emphasis is that it's a new band, with a new sound, and hopefully a new direction. There's NO need to include anything from the past. Move forward, not sideways or backwards. And IF I WERE to concede that it IS better than everything off of all the albums you listed, so what. Collectively, they sold about 1 million copies. The bar certainly wasn't too high to get over.

Get real.
"Believe in Me" is just another cliched summertime feel-good toe tapper in the same labored vein as "To Be Alive Again".
Good song, but I expect something with a little more bite than this.
After SoulSirkus, you know Jeff and Neal are capable of something a little edgier, a little more progressive.
Including this track would be a step backwards, not forwards.

No, let it live in JSS' past.

Give us new Journey music, penned by Schon/Cain/Soto.

I like "To Be Alive Again" but "Believe in Me" is a much better song. This would make a great Journey song. Why not re-record it, change it up a bit?

I agree...I mean, Neal co-wrote it, there's no reason it couldn't be a Journey song.

Seriously guys, make it happen. :)

You didn't get the job, did you?

You are pissed at me or just pissed period.

Go listen to this song loud. This is a bitchin' song and kicks TBAA's tail. Edgier? Why? Believe in me has a cool crinchy guitar and NO keys. This is the song I personally want in Journey. Is it time for you and I to have our annual meltdown and brawl online?

Gotta agree with you guys. No matter how good the song is, if it's not new it doesn't need to be on the first new Journey CD. Maybe the the second, but not the first. It needs to be all original.

Journey wouldn't be Journey without a "feel-good toe tapper" on the album, and as a toe tapper goes, this is a great one. Sure they can do some brooding more contemplative stuff too, but so what? Hopefully they will have a balanced selection to offer.

Nothing has influenced my opinion.
Everything I said in this thread was actually copy n' pasted from an earlier post.

It's a nice enough tune, sure.
But does it touch "Remember Me" or "Higher Place"?
I don't think so.
More importantly, does it meet Herbie Herbert's litmus test of "taking u somewhere"?
I think "Faith in the Heartland" stirs the soul more than this.
Make no mistake, its more than a decent tune, its a good tune.
Throw it on the album if u want, but it's not a showstopper by any stretch of the imagination.
