Stand Up And Shout

STAND UP AND SHOUT!

This is a well-known JSS-fronted tune.

Should Journey add it to the set?

I voted no, not because of the 'metal' aspect, but because I think that Journey shouldn't be adding outside songs to their set. It's bad enough their fans barely know songs from Arrival and Generations.

Its a perfect live song to get the crowd going. So I think they should play it live. Who cares if its too metal for Journey. You can not tell me that Journey fans would be dissapointed if this song got them jumping and dancing!!!

I think it would go over great as an encore song, providing the boys get a full set next time around.

The hard-rockers and fans of the movie would go nucking futs!

I voted no. If it sounded remotely like Journey, I'd be all for it but it sounds more like something you'd hear at a Motorhead concert.

This is exactly why this is going to fail
The focus now is Jeff this and Jeff that
The focus should be JRNY but they are a dead band.
Nothing this band does from now one will be considered JRNY it will be Jeff.
Bad move on Neal Schons part.
He will do anything for that concert pay check.
Sell your soul for the love of money.

That's not so different than it was during the ROR era. It was all about Perry and the band eventually imploded.

That being said, I think this will work with Soto. If Journey had gone the route of getting a cover band-style, Steve Perry doppelganger, then I'd agree with you but Schon really enjoys working with Soto. He didn't want him onboard just for the money. Is money a part of it? Perhaps, but who really cares. They are entitled to make decisions that benefit the band. If he had made a decision based solely on money, then he would done the easy thing for that, which would've been trying to get Perry back in the band. Therefore, your analysis falls flat.

Good song

I like the song but have to agree that I would much rather hear an obscure Journey song added to the setlist.
In fact here are some good examples

Opened the Door....Winds of March (Infinity)
Too Late...When You're Alone....Daydream (Evolution)
Someday Soon....People and Places (Departure)
Nothin Comes Close....We Will Meet Again (Arrival)

I voted no for the same reasons Amaron did, but now that I think about it maybe I was wrong. I've been saying that they need to focus on getting Jeff's name out there and generate some buzz about him, so maybe that song would introduce him to the Journey fans in a positive way. :? Don't know.

But then you'd have the people who would spout out the 'They have to play ANOTHER band's song in their setlists LOLOLOLOL because he can't sing' shit as well.

Nope. I'm for adding Journey music, new and old to the set not other stuff.

Hell, I like WorldPlay a lot and still would not want to see those songs in a Jrny set.

Do I like the Jrny version of Voodoo Chile w/ Neal singing? Yes, of course but I'd rather they stick to journey stuff.

Yeah, I thought about that too. I just think that maybe in the long run they'd be better off if they make a big deal out of having a new voice rather than trying to play it like it doesn't matter who the voice is as long as it's called Journey and they play the hits. That didn't work out too well the last time from a PR standpoint. Rockstar and that song are things that most fans would recognize and it might keep Jeff from being thought of as "just another generic singer singing the Journey Dirty Dozen" in the casual fans' minds. It could help open the door for some new songs. Maybe?

That is exactly why I wish they'd REALLY vary the setlist. Drop some of the overplayed stuff (OA, DSB, SW) and play something else. Hell, I don't care what era at this point. I just really don't want to see them go back to 2 hour concerts with little or no variety.

Let Jeff learn the songs and play DIFFERENT setlists at each concert. IMO, It would eliminate boredom and encourage people to go to OTHER concerts.

IMO..I think Stand up and Shout should be added to the set..its a great song and would get the audience up and singing and dancing and would intro duce Jeff as the new lead singer who doesn't sound like Perry but is a great entertainer in his own right and he can rock as well as do ballads...Yes it is still Journey, the band, but the lead singer has to be noticed and the public has to be aware of him....PR for Jeff has got to be foremost.. Believe in me should be added to the live set as well, as it is a great song...As a fan I still want to hear the DD 12 but as I have said many times, with Jeff at the helm, new music is in order and I think Neal is smart enough to know this...with Schon/Cain/Soto writing songs you can be usre the new album will be fantastic...

I also think Deen should continue to do at least 2 songs, Faithfully and Open Arms, as he does them so well and while drumming...gives the new fans as well as the old fans the insight that this band versatile and great...

I hope mgt. promotes this band the way they need to be promoted....headlines, TV, radio, morning shows, nightime shows, record stores, whatever it takes to get the info out to the nation.....

Jeff's vocals have to be show cased jut like Perrys were....it is usually the lead singer who the crowd looks to first....
AND yes, he is adorable and persoanble and has charisma on stage....we need a Journey DVD clip to be put on youtube for the world to see what is coming soon.....

I see your point and it would help if they added some other songs from all the eras, but I think having a new singer with a claim to fame of his own that people would recognize would also be a plus. I'm not just talking about effect on the concert audiences though. I'm thinking of the press and industry recognition that they could get if they play up the Soto factor to their advantage.

i think stand up and shout is a cool song,, but i also think it was written in part, as a joke to the 80's.. whenever these local bands play some heavy rock , someone in the audience screams ,, STAND UP AND SHOUT... did jeff even write that song????? ,, if they are going to cover a jeff song ,, he has tons better than SUAS.. how aobut "No Where Fast".. that tune rocks!! heck how about Where Were You,, the journey cataluge is huge!!!

Sammy Hagar wrote Stand Up and Shout. I agree it was written as sort of a joke, and unless Jeff thoughly explained his part in it, I don't think Journey fans will get the connection.

Jeff did Where Were You near the end of the tour this year and it was phemomenal.

Damn! I can't vote on this. I just don't know...I love the song, and Jeff is awesome performing it, but it IS a little heavy for Journey. I'd love to hear it, and think it would get a great response from the crowd, especially if/when they're performing with someone like Def Leppard.

I'm not sure if I think it would help them, or contribute to those that think he's not the right fit for Journey. He can sing it for me anytime, though... :P

I voted no, but I like the song...I usually sing it. I watched "Rock Star" yesterday on VH1 (such a Christmasy movie, doncha think?)...anyway, I think Journey should stick to Journey (except for SSB, of course).

I voted yes for totally selfish reasons...because I like it alot, & want to see it done live. :)

But if not, then I have my Gods cd & dvd with it, so that'll have to do then, lol.

ahhhhh,, they might as well do "shot in the dark"!! jeff covered that one too,, i want to hear some dual stuff with soto and castranovo,, such as .. just the same way.. ect.. 2 perrys in the band.. people would just laugh at SUAS... how about after the fall!!? jeff would nail that sucker to the wall!!!

i don't think i want any jss added to journey's set list. those are his songs... they stand on their own. jss still needs to go out solo. is that asking for too much? how about the jss band opening for journey? jeff can pull double duty! }:CP

hope ya'll had a happy christmas.

Hell NO!!!!!!

Maybe in a couple years. But, for now.. let it be Journey!

I wanna see/hear music written by Cain/Schon/Soto that's performed by Cain/Castronovo/Schon/Soto and Valory.

So, a big HELL NO!

Journey should save the JSS stuff for a couple years down the road. Let Jeff get established within the band first. Let all the fans adjust. It'll be way more fun that way.

To throw JSS material at a crowd of Journey fans at this time would be great for me, but not so good for the rest of the crowd. They wouldn't get it.

As much as I love this song, I just can't see Journey playing it :?

Wendy's right, JSS needs to do this on a solo tour

I think that is why I'd like to see them play that song. To see/hear Jon and Ross headbanging would be too cool.
