JSS made some HUGE improvements since the beginning of the tour. Instead of just shouting them out, which it seemed like he was doing in the beginning and straining his voice, he's now singing them the way they should be sung, with finesse. I think Jon gave him some great advice in that regard and certainly having the in-ear monitors is a big help.

You should see and hear him sing VH's Ice Cream Man, or the Temptations. Dude is better than you realize.

Whoops, posted on another thread....

You asked for it: Ice Cream Man

From 1990, Talisman live at a small club in Stockholm, Jason Bieler of Saigon Kick on guitar...we only had one album of material to draw from so the end of the show was covers & goofing, audio recorded on a camcorder...I think I was 25 years old here, God I am old!!!

Great job on the song, your voice is more bluesy that DRL's,I love it!

The sound is really good, considering the camcorder recording.

Nice gift to end the year,Jeff, thanks for sharing! 8)

Fuck, Soto can surely give us one more sample.

I say give us a Motown tune. 4 Tops, Temptations something. Come on Soto, cough it up.

I'd actually love to hear Jeff pull off a Motown tune. Come on Jeff...throw something up for all the people who insist you can only sing "metal"!!!!

There's always this, a little ditty I di as an ode to Sam Cooke, most people think it's a cover but I wrote it as I sang it in the studio, my 1st acapella ever, back in 1990 as well...it was fun stacking the ridiculous amounts backing vocals! It was a 'ghost' track on the Eyes debut CD, it wasn't titled on the album which is why most never knew it existed or thought it was a Cooke cover.

One of my FAVORITE tunes!!! Will you sing it to us in Walnut Creek next week?? :D :D

Wait till you hear Sam Grow's new songs. One of the songs has 12 backing vocal tracks stacked. Unbelievable!! I will have the disc for you next week, fresh out of the studio. 8)

Dude, enough with you attention seeking. THAT was Perry in every single way except for name. Jeff knows Perry was the best. What the fuck is your problem?

The problem is the perfomance is not that great Dean
It was not Perry in any way shape or form
Stop dreaming.
Its just another guy singing Perry JRNY tunes so what

These girls are foaming at the mouth over Sotos looks so they make it sound like he is so great.
I really think he should front Van Halen his voice would fit right in
They have had so many singers it would not be a big deal
Journey should close down the store for awhile we dont need to keep seeing the same songs year after year
with a different singer year after year.

There is no chance in hell you will ever hear any new JRNY material on the radio unless Perry was the singer.
The Augeri era failed and so will the Soto era.
