Question To All

Journey forums seem all the rage right now :D

In line with an uptake in the number of people looking to spend time talking Journey and other stuff with like-minded fans, do I need to expand this one forum into a 2 or 3 or 4 option board within this board?
Meaning - should there be a seperate Journey related area at the top of this phpBB board system, with perhaps a general forum, a Perry forum, Augeri era forum, bootleg forum....kinda set aside from lumping it all in this one area?

Or are you perfectly happy with the status quo of things as they are - which does certainly seem to be working. If there is no clear yes vote, it stays as is.

Yes or no...let me know.

I would like all the posts to stick with the subject . If its a Journey or Van Halen forum there shouldnt be no subject as a "sadam is dead" post. Stay with the forum. Other subjects that relate to other than the forum should be put in separate forums. Thanks.

I have no problem with OT posts - as this is a very active community within itself - hence the question of expansion.

That's groovy too. I'm not pushing for either direction. It's up to you folks.

My opinion is that perhaps separating artists into their own forums (ie Perry, Augeri, etc.) tends to lend to the division among fans, and that is certainly something we don't need more of. Each artist has given something unique to the whole of the band, and we should be able to embrace that as that is what has made this band what it is today. In other words, as an example, I think to send all discussion of Steve Perry to a 'remember me' area diminishes the impact that he continues to make on Journey, even to this day.

Not sure if that makes sense...it's still early. :)

I don't really see any need to expand it at all. I like it the way it is.

keep it as is, you'll just create more factionism if you carve it up; I also think the odd OT thread (eg. Saddam is dead) is good for stirring things up a little....

I voted no b/c I don't think it'll be worth your time and effort.
There'll be overlap like crazy, shit that shouldn't be here or there, brawls (unlike now :D ) because of it, frustration for you because of repeated nonconformance.....

I remember the "Perry" board and the aggravation it caused despite your good intent.

I just think people should start salient, thought-provoking, various threads.

Voted no also.
One place for Journey's past, present & future is more than enough.

Besides,Andrew,it's easier for you to watch and keep under control only one playground.

Perry's board didn't work, Journey fans going onto his board, and likewise causing trouble. Would be to many people causing trouble on to many boards. Would work except for the few who like to stir, so I say no!! Board does pretty good now I think-ERIC

As you said, this is a community and it about more than just Journey. All the OT threads only serve to get to know the people better. I like it the way it is.

Ditto. I like the diversity of topics here. The bootlegs, the guitar talk by the guys, and the vocals talk by the singers bring lots us of entertainment and info. The occasional political or sports threads let us get to know more about each other as people rather than just as Journey fans.

Exactly. Dividing things up doesn't work well at BT because the GF ends up being boring, having separate artist boards didn't work at VH1 because ultimately everyone wanted to fight on one forum, and the Perry board experiment sure didn't work out well here.
