Sorry, but Still They Ride is a must IMO. He doesn't need as much high range for that one and I'm thinking he can still hold the notes. And, a guitarist singing "Dixie Highway"? Nooooooooooooooooooo!

A band of top musicians maybe Steve Smith and Randy Jackson helping with two backing singers to help out on the top end of the songs, not to diffrent to the Brian Wilson touring band set up.Some songs could also be adjusted a little in key to help Steve.
The set list ( Not in order)
Only the Young
Girl Cant Help It
Oh Sherrie
Foolish Heart
Acoustic set ( softer versions of the more demanding songs)
Open Arms
Faithully
Missing You
Lights
I'll Be Alright Without You
After the Fall
Send Her My Love
Who's Crying Now/ Dixie Highway( sung by guitarist to give Steve a rest)
Steve talks about his influences
Sam Cooke song?
You Better Wait
Dont Stop Beliving
Seperate Ways
Anyway You Want It
(Backing singers help Steve with these numbers,he can hold the notes but in a lower register with the backing singers also holding the notes but higher)
Lovin Touchin Squeezin (Encore)
There you go,it would not be impossible for him to tour this show if there were not to many dates, what do you think?

"What do I think".....hmmmm....
No, no, my friend....MY question is: "Where do I sign up to audition to be a Backup Singer"??? LOL![]()

Doesn't seem all that Perry-esque an idea, but would be an interesting move that would at least put him out there in a more low-pressure situation.

Can't see Geddy pulling off 'Tom Sawyer' quite like he did many moons ago either.

Rush does it the right way, though. They tune down for "2112", for instance, because Geddy couldn't possibly come close those notes in "The Temples of Syrinx". That being said, I don't care for the tuned-down version of that song. It just doesn't sound right. The way they perform the rest of their songs, though, is pretty good, in my opinion.
StyxCollector wrote:2112 is the only tune to date they've detuned in concert. Everything else is still in its original key. We'll see in 2007, tho
Is Geddy's voice what it was? No, but he can still sing most of the notes right. He was horrid on the CP tour (that version of "Hemispheres" is cringeworthy). I think the years off between touring does him good.
At least Geddy has the good sense now to not sing what he can't sing - a la all the early stuff like "Bastille Day" and such. 2112 (at least Overture/Temples) has to be in the set, so detuning isn't a bad idea.

I enjoy his singing but it's definitely an acquired taste, though maybe not as "acquired" as Bob Dylan, for instance.![]()
Agreed, Walrus....Brewster sounded fine to me on the Street Talk and FTLOSM material, but just (and it may be nothing more than mind over matter) wierd, odd on the Journey stuff....and what the hell was with the grinning through entire shows?
