Have ya'll noticed that the Holiday Greeting was done at the end of Perry's Foolish Heart video....from his solo album?...Maybe Neal wasn't mad about him doing one by that point....and maybe Perry wanted to make sure the guys knew he wasn't going to leave Journey and go it alone then.......just speculation...but it does look like they had kissed and made up at that point...or were just acting for the camera!

only for the camera.. that was the last single released,, as soon as they got together to "cut a track" the happy family was torn apart because perry fired ross and smitty,, this , after perry recieved a ton of success with Street Talk and all those videos,, his videos were better than all the journey ones... lots of money spent,,lots of money earned.. you would think he "would be haaappppyyyy", they get back together and he uses his musicians for the album... 1984 was the end for that version of the band.. 23 years ago..wow

What do you think SP means when he was talking about his cars and houses and 'anything that equates strange medicine.'? I never understood the meaning behind the title of that album either.

i think For the Love of Strange Medicine means the things that are really unimportant in life , that people really think are important at one time,, but now , they arent important anymore ,, its when you finally realize that houses and cars , fame , fortune , an all , mean nothing in the big picture... thats as deep as i can muster,, im tired now.. :(

Somewhere in the inside
All along the road
Lady Luck has fallen
Now the truth unfolds

Rolling dice remember
What promises regret
Helps me to remember
Helps me to forget

Some are believers
Some don't know
(some are lost)
They're lost and alone
Some are deceivers
Their souls been sold
(for the love)
For the love of strange medicine

Far inside the dark room
Behind all the walls
Underneath the concrete
Heaven starts to fall
Walkin' on the sidewalks
Red lights turn to blue
Somewhere in the darkness
Standing there is you

Some are believers
Some don't know
(some are lost)
They're lost and alone
Some are deceivers
Their souls been sold
(for the love)
All for the love
Some are lost
(some are lost)
Lost and alone

All for the love of strange medicine

The love of strange...

(guitar solo)

Ah...

Some are believers
Some don't know
(some are lost)
We're lost and alone
Some are deceivers
Their souls been sold
(for the love)
All for the love....

Some are lost
(for the love)
Some are lost

(for the love)

(for the love)

Some....ah.....

(for the love)

I took it to mean...that people do stuff for the love of money and material possessions.......i.e. strange medicine.....comes to find out that the strange medicine...money and aquiring "stuff"....leaves you kind of empty in the end......especially when you forget whats most important along the way...or dont aquire what you really need in life and what life is all about and what gives it meaning.......those you love....family, friends... a soulmate by your side that is on the life journey with you. This is whats important......gives life meaning.......the "stuff" means nothing in the end. I think Espee was having some regrets of some things he missed out on or tread over to get to the top....then found out how empty it was to be there with just accumulated wealth and possessions and no one to share it with.....family gone.....no wife. Regrets of not maintaining relationships ....not putting the time into them...even damaging them....for the love of strange medicine.

i still think it was a bad album title,, steve perry was a difficult task to find in the music store anyway ,, under solo, under journey,, rock or top 40 ect.. then add a freaky title ,, Street Talk was great... what do i know though,, i found it and bought it. :)

he might have a regular job and singing on the weekends with sub par musicians,, and everyone comes up to him and says, man , ur good,, you cover those Outfield songs great,, you should have made it in the 80's....

in the interview he said he found it again,, how could he then loose it again for 11 years..

I thought he said in an interview that FTLOSM was you did & gave up for the music. That would also fit Steve saying that the song Melody, which souned like a love song, was all about the music.

I'd never heard about the gambling either. If he did he must have had a grip on it because he seems to have kept his finances in pretty good shape.

.....yep....I havent heard that he had a "problem" with it.....dont think he did....just that he likes to go to the track and play the ponys.......my dad used to go to the track occassionally with his bud.....lay a buck or 2 down on a horse......but never much....mainly went to enjoy the races and a day out with the guys. Liking going to the track doesnt mean one has a gambling "problem"......I dig horse racing....but dont like gambling...lots of folks go and dont gamble.

Ya know I've seen these many times and he still makes you think. He got of the merry go round to see what was left.He also said no music because he was empty. Then it started coming back, he also talked about is love for music.I could sit and anlyze this for hours and I'm still lost. What is the problem? He is not singing because he just doesn't want to, or is he just empty in his soul?Would somebody please explain this?
