I want to see & hear what was my first Journey concert as my memory is so vague (I didn't see them again until 2005). I don't even remember the date or venue except that it was in the summer of 1979 & it looks like they were there twice that summer. I was visiting a friend that summer & read that Journey was in town so we went. I remember AC/DC was opening for them (I think another band was there too)...can anyone verify this? I do remember how Steve Perry's magical voice reached us way in the back (the pothead section), but what did they sing, what did they wear? It will be a surreal experience if someone has this on tape & I can say, "I was there!"

I was lucky enough to spot a pro shot video boot of the first concert I ever went to at AR's house. Van Halen Diver Down tour, 1982.

I think I might have the Houston '79 on CD, but not on DVD or tape.

I can help you out with the dates: June 27, 1979 or August 30, 1979. If I had to guess I think the venue would be The Summit (which was renamed the Compaq Center, which is now a church), in those days that was the biggest place to play besides the Astrodome but concerts sound horrible in there.

I believe June 27 was at The Tarrant Center, Fort Worth. Don't have a venue for August 30 at Houston, but likely The Summit.

I got those dates from the Evolution ReIssue Booklet. It says they played Fort Worth June 29, 1979.

Thanks all, I look at the Guitars101 and see what's there...most likely whatever they played that summer was the same. I do remember hearing songs I wasn't familar with, so those could've been Pre-Perry songs.
