Frustrating

Postby Andrew » Tue Jan 09, 2007 10:09 am

I find it incredibly frustrating and highly annoying to see this forum still being mentioned on other sites as an "unmoderrated" forum.

Er, excuse me, who the *%$# and I then?

This forum has always been moderrated and will always be moderrated - by me - who is online each and EVERY day and who is easily contactable via PM or whatever other method and who takes action when necessary, but ONLY when absolutely necessary.

You lot are all adults, all capable of being held accountable for your own actions and it bothers me that some feel the need to complain about other forums while posting on one that better suits their own individual needs.

I don't see anything here that has gotten out of hand or that has needed a heavy hand to control in several weeks - not since the announcement at least.

In fact, I would go as far to say that this HERE is the more fan friendly, open to opinion forum.

Am I wrong?

I don't know...I would probably be a bit more heavy handed as a moderator but to each his own. If I didn't like your methods, I'd go somewhere else, so there you go. There's some not-so-great people here but the good far outweighs the bad, in my opinion.

Andrew, I have been to one other site...Journey Forums...I do not like it there, so I don't visit, but I didn't bash it, I just don't go there...why do some people find it necessary to bash another site? If they don't like it here why do they bother to troll, read, lurk or post here... I never understood that... This is the best site on the internet for us Journey fans...it is not under-moderated...u do a great job and a difficult one at that!

Keep up the good work Andrew...

Yes we have been very good as of late, haven't we???????

Why not post the names of people who are complaining elsewhere...then maybe they'll stop complaining or go away. :?:

The fact that this forum IS mentioned elsewhere tells me that it has accrued a certain amount of jealousy. Jealousy due to freedom of speech, news being heard here first, band interaction and Augeri being fair game. Was some of the criticism at Augeri a bit too much? Probably....but the fact that the situation WAS allowed to be discussed FAR outweighs the "leave Stevie alone" mentality. I wouldn't change anything Andrew. The publicity/jealousy should be flattering. The fact that it derives out of pure jealousy seems pretty transparent to me. View it as a compliment.

Thanks Saint John - I like your thinking and will do just that!

As far as moderration goes - I will be a little tougher now that everyone has hd their say, got the shit off their liver and the announcement has come and gone.

But it really has been very good in here of late and there has been little need for me to step in.

Andrew, when are you going to sit down and watch Risky Business? Tom Cruise says, "Sometimes, you just gotta say, What the Fuck?"

St. John stole my words. If other sites have to talk about Melodicrock, and mention Melodicrock, then Melodicrock is the obvious best board for music in Netland.

Members of the Band post here and interract with many of us. Can't say the same for BT can we?

I am different than Andrew, for obvious reasons. I frankly don't give a flying shit that BT and it's caucus of suckasses think I am the Devil. It's the same type of parallel Andrew. They hate me because I was right and they hate you because your Board is the best.

This is a good time to be hated. Trust me.

Andrew, I can understand your frustration, but saint John said it best, that accusation is stemming from pure jealousy. Unmoderated? I don't think so. Freedom of speech? Yes. I might not agree with what everyone says here, but you can bet that I appreciate being somewhere that people CAN say what's on their minds. And I wouldn't want it any other way.

You are absolutely right when you said this is the more fan friendly, open to opinion forum.

Thank you for doing what you do, Andrew, it's much appreciated. You're a cool dude in my book.

Well this forum beats the holy piss out of BT, everyone here will attest to that, and the biggest reason is because BT is way over-moderated. I think you do a good job, I wouldn't change a thing. Deano's right, just say what the fuck. You'll never be able to please everyone.

Mac,

You're spot on dude. The other forums consider this an "unmoderated" one because you actually allow folks to speak their mind however they choose. Please keep it this way. The other fuckers are just jealous because you have the most popular site and Journey pays attention here. Take it as the highest form of complement and keep on rockin.

Its just like racing, when everyone is pissed and thinks you're a cheating asshole, it means you're winning big time.

Yes, you are wrong. I'm not sure why you care what is posted on other forums. Considering what is posted here about other forums, the statements you mention are pretty mild. People come here to complain about other forums including BT so what is the big surprise that people who don't feel welcome here complain elsewhere. Since you brought it up, MR is only fan friendly to a little group. That's been demonstrated time and again. There are those who have given up on this place. Particularly after those interviews. I'll voice what many have said elsewhere. You violated the basic tenents of journalism 101, objectivity. There's probably no coming back from that.

Now you can all join in and do your bashing. Clearly Andrew was asking, but not asking anyone who might disagree. One, two, three, go:

Andrew...

Don't sweat it! I honestly think you're your own worst enemy, because you actually give a shit what these idiots think! The reality is that you are NEVER going to appease everyone who visits this website. That simply isn't possible. At the end of the day, you should feel good about the fact that you have a place where people are free to say what's on their minds. I certainly don't agree with everything I read here (which is the same for everyone). That said, I will always defend someone's right to express how they honestly feel! I personally like this website, because it has more of an edge and a hell of a lot less flowers and fluff! I honestly think this website does a pretty good job at policing itself...at least as good as any other fan site I've ever seen!

John from Boston

p.s. How the hell has Monker managed to stay out of this thread??? It can't be long now before he comes in to give Drew the familiar speech on how to moderate this website!

It's not that I get too hung up on, or waste my time worrying about such comments, but I do run a website that caters for everyone and as much great music as I can feature.

So it is natural that I would like the associated forums to be of a similar nature and it does disappoint me tha some feel that they can't post here for whatever reason.

But, that's fine...I am more than happy with the community of people here and think there are some very fine folks that contribute a lot to this forum.

Now this is one accusation I have heard a few times since the interviews came out
that NO ONE has been able to explain in a logical manner...

I'd like to hear your take in this, LAW...

I can see fans not liking what was said in the interviews
but how can Drew be blamed for what was said or how
questions were answered?
Or does this have to do with the totally overblown
fact that a few folks 'proof-read' the piece before-hand?

Hullo!
I'm actually pleased to hear a discenting view. The thread was't about needing to hear nothing but positives (although I really do appreciate that feedback!)

I understand the reluctance of some to post here, but they really should give it a try. I don't agree that this is fan friendly only to a little group - there are more different regular users here than just about any other board I have seen.
I believe you do get a great cross section of views here.

I'm also interesing in hearing why you think I am not objective and in what regard?
I can't be held accountable for what others say when I interview them...especially given the setting.

I do believe there are a few that have given up on this place, but possibly only becuase they do not like the outcome of recent events rather than my interviews with the new Journey line-up.

Nothing that was said here or in those interviews would have changed the inevitable.

The thing that frustrates me, Andrew, is that the same people who complain that people use 'fuck' and 'bitch' and even the 'c' word here are just as nasty over there to people who don't share their same wiggling views. Just because they think they're nicer doesn't make it so. A piece of shit by any other name still stinks...

Don't worry about it Andrew. As much as they bitch, they're still lurking, and will continue to read your interviews. I personally thank you for MR and the great job you do here.

Andrew. You IMO have the best rock website on the web, PERIOD!! I guess you could call me an 'open' person. The cussing and other things that go on here do not bother me one iota. I appreciate the fact that you ALLOWED people to discuss and sometimes argue over the issues at hand. Your site is what I look at as free speech. It's very big here in the US of A!! Thank you for the site, and allowing people to 'openly' discuss things. I still hope to meet you one day. You seem to be a super guy, and one of, if not the best rock journalists I have ever had the chance to meet (even if only on the net). Some other sites the band cannot even stand (has to tell you something). They keep talking to you and answering your questions however. I think you should take that kudos more than any other. Now, I feel personal attacks and so-forth should cut way down, but there again it doesn't bother me personally. I am an 'open' person. Thanks again for all you do, and allow us to have a second 'family' of Journey loving fans here. This is a great diversity of people here, although somehow we all 'love' one another. I have not commented on this before, but the 'wiggle' threads and crap get so old so fast. It's even starting for Jeff now. I truly admire Jeff and his talent. But I don't want to read about his clothes on stage or how his ass looks. I could care less. What I do care about is he gave me the BEST BY FAR Journey show I have ever witnessed in Columbia in November. Keep up the good work my friend. :)

i think this nails it .. the BEST ROCK SITE on the internet.. thats the best in the world and whos competing,, and those few bad mouthing are not joining mr.x and are not detering too many from it either, i mean who are listening to them , then on the other hand its GREAT advertising, the old slogan of Any publicity is good publicity, you get people talking and "responding" here, look at all the new ones joining this board, while those other folks just "react" and get foolish,, but in the end its really about economics,, who will support the site,, the buck stops here,, i know its not all about the money , but still.. 8)
