Needless to say (and some 75+ shows later.....) I'm still a fan!

And for the record, Alpine Valley is in East Troy, WI, not Chicago. :D

Journey Tour Dates

Thanks,I'll make the correction! 8)

No problem! :D
Yeah, WLS was a Chicago radio station (is it still? not sure, since I'm not from Chicago!)

I've heard Alpine referred to as a Chicago venue before. It's close to the Illinois border, but much closer to Milwaukee than Chicago.
It's only about 40 minutes west of Milwaukee.

Laura..thank you so much for this, you rock!!.....Wow!! How amazing was this band?!!....This is fantastic!....They would even exceed the recording's........how many bands can you think of that can do that?....Schon's solo...Smith's solo.......love that improv before Who's Crying Now....and Perry's long sustained highs....gives you shivers down your spine!......They say perfection cannot be achieved but if you want a definition of what comes close that would be Steve Perry's voice!......Loco for Soto now....but will always be a loon for Espee!! 8)

I've got this one, and it truly is the best example I've ever seen of Steve Perry's vocal genius and this band's musical prowess. they were just absolutely perfect on every song.

(It was Aynsley(sp?) on drums at that time though.)

I'm sorry Shania, I was thinking about the soundstage thing. Wrong thread. :?

My apologies TVL, it is Steve Smith on drums. I'd just read the Soundstage thread and still had it on my mind.

The perfection thing still applies, and I do have both, but the Soundstage is the ultimate.

This is a great post, Shania. I have a lot of Journey boots (nowhere close to CRL, though!), and this is definitely one of the best ones out there.

Yogi, "Too Far Gone" is an old Babys tune that Jonathan Cain was allowed to sing during some Escape tour shows. He also sang "Turnaround In Tokyo" at some of the earlier Japan shows, also from the Babys' catalog, I believe. Neal and Steve both sang some of their outside work during the Frontiers tour, so I guess it was only fair!

Laura (Shania), thanks ever so much for posting this boot--these boots I've found here have been so satisfying--I never knew this stuff was out there. I watched the boot someone posted of a show in Japan and I thought in my humble opinion that it was better than the Houston DVD. Lots of closeups and very sharp picture. Anyway, thanks again!! :)
