How about a duet on the next album with Chris Daughtry?

I think this guy has a killer voice and a song featuring him on the next Journey album might be a good idea. If we're thinking about featuring a current music star on a song on the new album, I think having Chris Daughtry appear would provide great exposure and possibly give Journey a hit on the radio. Plus, I think he has a rock background.

No no no.

I think duets with dude and dude is gayer than stick on rainbows plastered on VW's and a guy driving it.

Fuck that idea.

Jeff with Kelly Clarkston, Shania Twain or some other hottie is what the Dr. ordered.

Maybe not a duet...maybe just have him sing a verse or two or something like that.

I'm glad you got to this one before I did
because, like you said, dude-and-dude duet action is too wierd.
Yea, I still love "Don't Fight It" and duets "within the band"
ala Perry/Rolie don't count.

Clarkson would be the bomb.
Even someone like Avril, Mandy Moore, Jess Simpson, Pink, Sheryl Crow...

Remember, it's not about Jeff and Journey doing a duet with
one of these pop starlets (excluding Crow, she's pure class)
and singing one of their songs.

It's about one these pop starlets dueting with Jeff
on a newly-penned Journey song.
The band can deliver the goods song-wise and
the popularity of these chicks with the younger audiences would
help launch Journey back into the younger generation's sights.

Like I've been saying all along, for Journey to REALLY make a statement again
they are going to have to connect with and win over the 15-25 year-old
listeners out there. You become a sensation to them and Big Corporate Radio/Tv
will jump on the bandwagon and follow suit.

OT, Carlitto, but just read (or tried to anyway), the banter back and forth between you and that blonde ex NFL Fullback, Journeylovingirl, or some shit. She thinks you are bad? I thought you went easy on her. I would have blown that fat bubble headed bimbo out of the universe.

She was a journalist? You have got to be kidding? For whom, Jerry's Kids? She cant conform a complete sentence to save her ass. She has NO clue what's happening.

I commend you on your argument, however, you need some refinements. I can help you out, bro.

Yea, she thinks that I'm mean...
It does make for some pretty comical reading, though :)
Too bad you couldn't join in with me and Behsad.

Typically, only solo artists do duets. I don't even remember any duets done by a lead singer within a band and another outside singer. Doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

I think you mean Dilana, right? She was really great! They should have picked her. Would never buy that CD with their choice! That would be an interesting combo :)

Actually, Bon Jovi just did a duet with the singer from Sugarland. That song landed Bon Jovi the People's Choice award for best rock song just a couple of weeks ago, beating out the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Evanescence. It could work with the right person. That song was made popular because it crossed into the country world too. Shania would make sense :D

I might get slammed for saying this, as it looks like I'm in the minority, but I don't agree at all with the duet idea, guy or girl. If this was to get exposure for JSS, the best way of doing that is within the context of Journey. My impression of a Journey front man (JSS or any of the other ones) doing a duet with a hot young rock artist is like that dude that graduated from high school 10 years ago but keeps showing up at all the high school house parties.

It's really hard for an older band to get that kind of exposure in today's market though. I say they should do whatever works, but do something for that exposure! Even if they make the best album ever, it won't go anywhere without some kind of exposure. Word of mouth isn't good enough.

Shania is 41, so she wouldn't fall in the hot young chick category :)

Hell no.
HELL NO.

The only duet I will stand for would feature JSS and Cain. That's the way the band's always done duets and I am not a deviant.

NO. Slowly step away from the lame American Idol connection.

Also, just say no to any country crossovers ala Bon Jovi.

Well said, Jeremy. I'm part of your minority...no duets.

I personally wouldn't want a duet either, esp. with some "pop" starlet, because I just wouldn't be able to stand that yodeling-type singing alot of the pop princesses do these days...UGH...I'd rather hear nails on a chalkboard

I did however finally hear a song from Chris's new cd on the radio yest, liked it alot, plan on picking up the cd soon. :)

Speaking of him, anyone know why he didn't end up fronting Fuel like I'd heard he might?

I agree :) I was really only stating facts up there! They will need to do some better marketing than they have now though or something. Unless they are content just continuing to make music and tour the way they have been with their current loyal following :D

In one of the threads a few weeks ago I believe JSS said that he "would most want" to do a duet with Carrie Underwood. She's young, hot and has a good voice. Works for me!!!!!!

The problem with a duet like this is that it can never be played in concert, at least not like it sounds on the radio.

True! That's why I guess Bon Jovi recorded the song twice on their album, once with the duet, and once alone! I never thought of that! (sorry, mentioning BonJovi to much here, I know  )
