OK; so it's not new stuff....but I was just thinking.....

Is Steve "getting in his own way" perfectionist-wise?

He keeps re-visiting the past.....which was AMAZING....but c'mon...the guy can STILL BRING IT (listen to Guff, for God's sake!)

SO WHAT if he can't sing "high" or whatever anymore??

I'll take his soul and passion over Stratospheric notes ANY day! 8)

Nora,

Your comment "I'll take his soul and passion over Stratospheric notes ANY day!"....is exactly how I feel. The high notes are icing on tthe cake....it's the WAY he sings, not the notes he hits.

The interviews were done last summer. It took awhile for Cherry Lane to put the books together and get them on sale. I enjoyed reading Steve's reflections on the various songs and learned some things I didn't know before. :)

These will be going on my birthday list...I enjoy reading songwriter's thoughts on the songs (especially SP's). :)

really on the first one, the Dont Stop Believing Anthology, the only gem is Oh Sherrie,, the others have been out for a long time.. it really does no good to have 3 books out with the same tunes tabbed out.. ..

but im not sure what the second book is,, is it just the piano version?? imust say its very cool that Laura/Shanias book is being paired with it!!.. .... the strange thing is,, these two new releases should have been out since 1988... the sales would have been staggering,, holding on till 2006 or '07.. for a guitar player,, well its cool ,, not knocking it .. just a little late.. ya know,, what else ya got,, i have an idea,, since all we are getting from perry is bits and pieces of old stuff,, why not hit on it BIG.. a tab book with lyrics and a brief story from each of his solo and journey albums,, i would LOVE to have that .. and would buy all of them,, as great as a guitar player neal is ,, i challenge you to find his tabs! or info about his playing ,, heck even his website is desolate of this info.. it just doesnt exist... but we get Dont Stop Believing again... am i wrong?

Hmmm....how very "under-the-radar" of him.....

8)

I got the "Open Arms" copy last week.Looks nice, love to have another item in my SP collection.
However, except for the interview (which is an awesome insight on several Journey/solo songs) the rest of the book is in a language I don't speak.
Unfortunately,I have zero piano/guitar knowledge.

Speaking of the interview...Someone transcribed it and it's posted on BT.

I love them. I thought it was a great read to find out what he had to say about each one. I love finding things out I didn't know before. Only thing is now we need another Q and A because I have so many more questions now. :)

...which is why we bought them, piano and guitar are played at my house. Now I am finding out there will be a bonus, the interviews!

That's great, you will sure have fun learning the songs the way they were played by Journey! 8)
