I don't know if anyone has heard of lock bumping, it's very real, and very scary.

Yikes Voyager ! That is damn scary ! I just hope that people who do this won't do it in apartment complexes. I live in one, and I can't afford that 150.00 lock........

That is scary, and definitely gives you something to think about.

Thanks for the info.

On the opposite side of the coin, something that was once limited to a certain amount of criminals, is now expanded to criminals x 10000000 because it's now been put on the news. The shitbags that never knew about it or never heard of it before and now looking it up as well, because this story was aired. The police probably didn't want to talk on the air about it, so they could somehow limit the way this was already mulitplying, but thanks to our news hungry media, it's now out and traveling even faster than expected. This is why I don't trust the media. They just don't know when some things are better left unsaid

True dat. I am constantly amazed by the news and the things they choose to put out there. Very irresponsible.

You know what, the irony is that if these fuckin toads put HALF the planning into figuring out how make a real living as they do bamboozling people we'd all be better off.

Somebody try to break into my crib and let me catch you.

PLEASE.

You know, I have a friend from college who owned a business with another guy. Their warehouse was broken into several times over about a month. They got sick of it and waited in there one night with guns. Sure enough, the dumbasses broke in again, so they shot one of the bastards and killed him. Both of their lives were turned upside down for years over the trial and the money they had to pay their lawyers. Should have been an open and shut case. But the lawyers got rich, so that's good, right?

Oops, my husband just explained this break in style to me! I guess there are many different locks they can do it with. It's been around for many years, but it's not a very common way for them to break in because it's very tricky. I figure still though, if they want to get in bad enough, they will!

How do you balance that against the fact that people ought to know about it, though?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about the media is sometimes, or a lot of times, our worst enemy, but in this case, it does inform the public that this problem exists, then it's up to us to fix the problem. My door has a dead bolt that is only accessible from the inside, (no outside access). At least you're safe when you're home.

I have no clue how to balance it to tell you the truth. I know the general public has the right to know about things, but at the same time, you have to remember that most will outright panic at shit like this, while the reast will think "I gotta try that" If you look a few vids down on the youtube page, you'll find someone that actually shows how to make the bump keys. I don't think it'll be on youtube long though because it's against their terms of use to show illegal "how-to's from what I know.

Anyone caught "bumping" themselves into my house will be hastily met with the sound of my .40 cal cocking.  That should be enough to make them reconsider their intentions......
