OT: Jon Waite on Leno tonight

Did anyone catch JW doing "Missing You" as a duet
with Allison Krauss tonight on Leno???

I really didn't care for it too much...
JW sounded really good and so did Krauss but
I guess I just love the original.
Looks like Krauss and Waite are gonna try
the Bon Jovi route to a hit?

Anyhoo, JW had a new doo reminicent of Lyle Lovett
He really looked so "Un-Jon Waite", especially the dancin'.

Just wondering if anyone else caught it.

I want to know what the big deal is with Allison Krauss, she butchered that song!!
Waite looked like he wanted to ROCK and was held back by her lousy voice for that song.

I watched it and thought it was horrible! I thought the notes that Waite actually sang (which weren't many) sounded pretty good. He should have just left that song alone. It sort of reminded me of Cain trying to turn "Faithfully" into a duet! If it isn't broke, DON'T FIX IT!

I know what you mean Jeremey. She's got one of the purest, cleanest, most perfect voices I've ever heard. Maybe not right for a duet with Waite though. He should have gone with a Sara Evans or Leanne Womack.

Allison Krauss has the voice of an angel. Whether or not she should have been a part of Waite's vanity project is a matter of conjecture, but reading the sentence "Her lousy voice..." was like jumping into Lake Superior at 5 below zero without any longjohns on.

Yes she does have an angelic voice. I've never jumped into any lake without my longjohns  but I know what you mean. She deserves better than to be paired with an ego-maniacal asshole like John Waite on anything.

Now if she were to try something with a man who would respect her abilities like say Perry or DeYoung, that might produce some beautiful music.

I recorded it. My husband, daughter and I just finished watching it and agree with you. She was singing so quietly and didn't sound good at all. I didn't like the hair either!

I know a lot of people like her voice, but it is just not the style I like. She often sounds like she's whispering. As for Waite's hair.....

His hair looks like it did when he recorded that song in the 80's, i thought his voice still sounds great, this version was a bit subdued.

actually, i've read several interviews w/john about this project, and it's his love of her voice that made him choose her for the duet. don't know where you got the idea that he didn't respect her abilities.
