**MAJOR PUBLICITY/#1 HIT IDEA**

Everyone here likes to play "ArmChair Managment" from time to time.
We all have our own ideas and opinions of what the band should do
to regain the widespread popularity they owned back in the 80s...

I had a TRULY incredible and profitable epiphany this morning!

Ok, hear me out...

I know the whole idea of a "duet" has been tossed around alot
lately and that the majority of folks think that Jeff doing a duet
with another dude would be alittle... wierd? Gay?
I mean, the last really popular male-male duet that had any
radio success, to my knowledge, was Elton and George Michaels'
duet on "Don't Let The Sun Go Down"...
Kinda verifies how Gay male-male duets can be :) J/K

Anyhoo,
Journey is going to Mardi Gras to be Grand Marshalls for the parade
and will do a show at some point.
TAYLOR-MR. SOUL PATROL-HICKS will ALSO be part
of these festivities...

Does anyone else see how EASY it would be to have a #1 hit
by recording a "Live" version of Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' with
Taylor Hicks sharing runs with Jeff
???

That song is right up Taylor's alley and, just having his him included in the venture
would GUARANTEE mass market exposure, major radio rotation and a
potential video that VH1 and the like would play the hell out of!

It would then open the door for Journey to get thier
OWN new music in heavy rotation again.

We all know how popular AI is in America. Love it or hate it, you can't deny
that just about anything remotely associated with that show, especially
Clarkson, Aiken, Daugherty, Underwood and Taylor will GET ATTENTION!

So there you have it folks!

Jeff, you getting this insane shit?
Is Neal or anyone else lurking???

This is a No-Brainer if it could be set up!

Thoughts? :)

Good idea, but I prefer the duet to be with the Bush Baby.

All good, except the Taylor Hicks part. With all due respect I just cant stand that voice. Now if Kelly Clarkson was there, I know Jeff would be all over it :)
I know what youre sayin about popularity, but is Journey really that desperate to become as popular as they were, by loweing themselves to that level!?

Carlitto it looks like you've got a
tough crowd here today Sir.

Behshad I don't even watch AI ever and
know who William Hung is.
I can't think of a good way to describe him
so let's just say he was an AI contestant.

I wanna see you talk Steve Perry into this. Good luck!!! Pretty sure he'd have to "OK" it.....and we all know that isn't gonna happen.

I don't think that a duet with Taylor Hicks would open any doors for Journey. Chris, Kelly, or even Clay might be a different story... they get plenty or airplay already (around here, at least).
I've never even heard a Taylor Hicks song on the radio!

I think Taylor Hicks and a new verison of LTS would be a radio hit....isn't that what we want in the long run. I mean if Faithfully is back in the top 20 again with Jon Cains duet with some country chick... why not LTS with Taylor Hicks... But take it a step further and have Al Green and JSS do new R&B number for Journey.

Kelly Clarkson would be JSS's choice I guess.

Carlitto,Journey can't re-record & release any of the classic songs.That's a legal deal.
Especially for LTS they would have to ask Steve Perry,he wrote it by himself.

*edit - ok,sorry,SJ said it already.My bad.

IN ROCK AND ROLL ALL RULES WERE MADE TO BE BROKEN!! :)
Why else call it Rock and Roll.

why else with the lawsuits between band members all the time!! Watching vh1 classics one hit wonders this week from a few years ago, it seems that happens quite a bit!!

A bunch of Haters!
I KNOW this would be a HUGE
lift for the band, marketing/publicity-wise
and would be a big hit!!!
And I'm not even a Taylor Hicks fan myself.

True...kind of. I think TBF showed us that if anybody DOESN'T have a price, it's Perry. He stood to make a boatload of dough and simply walked away.

As I've said before - I picked Taylor to win and so I know what I'm talking about

Taylor's voice is great. His performance is super, too. I love how he takes a song and works it into a frenzy.

Having said that I don't see LTS as the best fit.

The song that immediately comes to mind is Livin' To Do.

GOD NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Hicks is lame. How about the band just comes out with a kick ass album and promotes the shit out of it by TV appearances, Magazine Interviews, etc. Get U2's management company and leave the same old same old behind. If you keep doing the same thing, you get the same results. Do something different management-wise. Taylor Hicks is NOT the answer. Now if we were talking Kelly Clarkson, you'd have something. Taylor shouldn't be in the same state with Journey. Blech! Sucks.

Just re-read the thread. Guess Kelly Clarkson's already been suggested. I'd rather have William Hung than Hicks. At least I'd be laughing for the right reasons. Daughtry would be cool and don't do a lame Lovin Touchin' Squeezin but do something that rocks.

As do I, but a greedy fucker would have STILL found a way to cash in. But in essence, as it regards to the health issue, I agree NIG. At the same time though, I don't believe Perry is greedy either.
