Can ANYONE be a Journalist!?!?

You know, I just got done reading Drew's front-page and was especially drawn
to the Hit Parader interview with EVH. Now, I've never considered HP to be that good anyway
(I prefered Circus, RIP and Metal Edge back in the day) and the lead-in to this interview
just validated my opinion...

"EVH is easily one of the top 5 in guitar virtuosos of the 20th century. This only makes the last several years of the band's existence seem tragic. With so much talent kept on hold because no singer could get his act together to work with Eddie, much time has been wasted. Now, Van Halen fans can rejoice the original band (with one minor adjustment) is returning this summer for a North American amphitheatre tour. We spoke to Eddie about what fans can expect."

That one statement right there in bold tells me 2 things:
The reporter is a COMPLETE FUCKING MORON and, secondly,
is nothing but an Ass-Kissing clown.
There aren't many other singers out there that have thier "acts" more together than Hagar.
And of course, the interview was priceless.
It shows what has now become of EVH, the one-time absolute King of the fretboard.
He has now lowered himself to an arrogant, anomosity-filled, jealous drunk that is gonna
really tarnish the image of the band he helped ascend to legendary status.

BTW, I thought Roth sounded like a new man, almost "humbled"...
Who'd have thought that The Ultimate Lead Singer of the early 80's
could actually come back down to earth and still be so likeable? :)

i think people like to read that everything is good, and who evers not in a band at the time is the reason the band has stunk,, butt kissing sells magazines,, telling the truth starts fires,,

Agree, DLR said the right things, while Young Edward just came off as a pompous wanker who wants DLR to be totally walking on eggshells.

I don't know WHEN he became like this but he's the first guitarist to contract LeadSingers'Disease.

Every time I start to get sympathetic to Eddie he opens his toothless trap.

If Eddie is so smart, he would have snatched up Soto. He would do the VH catalogue serious justice. I am just glad for my sake, Ed is an idiot and didn't call.

People do that not only in Journalism, but in life in general. They cope out and dont say what they really think out of fear of being ostracised from the "group". They're not honest in their opinions...they say what they think people want to hear rather then what they really feel. People have such a strong need to feel accepted that they will throw out their own convictions and kiss ass just to "get along" and be a part. The truth starts fires because people dont want to hear it..they get defensive....especially about someone or something they like, and especially about themselves, when the truth might be exactly what is needed to be heard. Honesty and integrety are such rare commodities so often now....to find it in the media, politics, communities, friendships, and even within families. It's refreshing when it can be found....the truth hurts sometimes but it is better to be heard. Change and improvement cannot be achieved without some truths being told, once in a while. People also love to blame others for their actions and make excuses and dont accept responsibilty .....they feel they are justified due to the actions of others instead of looking at the role that they played in the outcome and being honest with themselves. Its very easy to blame the one that is no longer there, instead of accepting any responsibility......but there is no growth in it and things are left the same where no improvements are made.....so, like in a band....it becomes stagnent and stays the same or it declines even further because needed changes are not accepted and addressed. IMO 8)

"Who'd have thought that The Ultimate Lead Singer of the early 80's" Uh...that would be Steve Perry. DLR is no comparison in any way to Perry. Except for his carnival like onstage antics. That dude, like EVH is the ultimate has been.

"The Ultimate Lead Singer of the early 80's"...
I KNOW Perry was and still is the better singer here.
But DLR was The Ultimate when it came to attitude,
swagger, monster stage presence and the "Bad Boy" image.

As for being the "Ultimate Has-Been"...
Tea, EVH is getting there but honestly, if he doesn't
do something soon, Perry won't be too far behind :(

You couldn't possibly be any WRONGER. A "has been" is someone who is washed up, yet doesn't realize it...or does realize it but keeps going anyway. Perry is neither of those. And you'll be hearing from Mr. Perry soon enough. He hasn't been "available" lately. I wonder why?

People "hear from him" every year and a half or so.
That's not going out on a limb, San Juan.

My bad...I completely misread your post. However, this time when we "hear from him" it's gonna be a bit different. And for the record, I was enthralled when I found out his favorite gravy.

"different" how?
Come on, make a real prediction.

Journey's next 2 albums will be out before SP records another deep breath.
And that's not to say Journey's prolific, either.

New music before the end of the year. A new website, too. And by "new music" not background vocals, either.

Seems as if the interview is a fake. Everyone has carried it, so someone pulled a good one. Really pissed off. So I guess the answer to your question is .... yes :(

Not forgetting the pink spandex 'tights' DLR was so fond of wearing. They don't really add to the bad boy image IMO.

Couldn't take him seriously after that, sorry.

Charo is a "never was." Another border hopper who after 40 years here speaks English like she's got shit in her mouth.
