Agreed.

Are they going to sequence Anthony's vocals? Lord knows Eddie's singing voice is wretched, and I'm sure Al's is the same. If Wolfie gets his pipes from his old man, he won't be able to handle it, either. Anthony's high harmonies were a big part of VH's vocal sound. I'd be interested to hear what the vocals would sound like with Eddie and Wolfgang.

Maybe they'll have the off stage keyboardist sing them.
It really sucks that Mike Anthony isn't there.

That is, unless they sequence the keyboards as well, which has been done before. At times, they had the keyboardist from Night Ranger, Alan Fitzgerald playing the backstage keys. Many other times, just sequenced keys. It's neat to see videos of Ed on the keys while Sam plays the guitar:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rvri_da8_E

The off-stage or sequenced keyboards are a far cry from this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-i14HSzsVI

No guitar or bass on that video. Eddie on the keyboards/synthesizer, and Anthony on the other side of the stage on the top, playing "second keyboards."

Pay attention to some Toto videos. They have their second keyboardist, John "JJ" Jessel dressed all in black on the back of the stage, behind just about everything. He sings backing vocals as well, but they do bring him out at times during band introductions to acknowledge his existence at least. See if you can spot him in the back here (look behind Tony Spinner's riser):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WR-bq5fRDQQ

JJ must get some measly penance. Tony Spinner is not an official part of the band, but he's there for all to see. JJ is dressed all in black where you can't really see him.

Eddie looks like a little Chinaman....far from the cool Eddie from the past. Dave & Alex look bad-ass, though we will see if Dave's voice is "better than ever" as he says it is. Having seen him on the Sam & Dave tour, I'll believe it when I see it And Wolfie....Michael Anthony should be in this pic.

Just saw Dave, he sounded good for Dave. Actually Dave sucked hideously when he was IN Van Halen. He's improved a lot since he left, but JSS/Steve Perry he ain't and isn't supposed to be.

He is completely capable of being "Dave" onstage with VH though.

COuldn't agree more- Eddie looks like hell. It's a shame what the booze has done to that guy.
And I thought he came off as a real prick in the interview on the front MR page. Why slag Mikey and Sam that way? Grow up Ed...you're old enough to be above such pettiness... I mean, come on! You're , what now...60? 65?

I gotta admit, though...for some strange reason I'm really rooting for Dave to come out swinging and prove all the naysayers wrong...I don't think he WILL, but I'm rootin for him just the same!

Who wants to bet this tour doesn't get finished? Dave will fight with Ed and vice versa.

THIS is the tour to roll tape. There is no way they are playing live all the time with this crackpot of a lineup.

Someone said the Police tickets are $200.00, do you think VH will ask this much? If so, I won't be seeing either band. Maybe I should become a gambler for a living so I can afford it.

Maybe for prime seats, but I've read that there'll be lots of Police tix in the 40-60$ range (USA Today , I believe is where I saw this) Also, doubt the VH tix will run that high since the majority of their shows are in outdoor sheds, if I'm not mistaken, and those venues usually have at least some reasonably priced tickets.
I'm kinda bummed, as they were slated on the Starwood Amphitheatre schedule (Nashville TN- which is pretty close for me) and I just found out they're shutting down the venue to be sold to land developers! That sucks hard!
It also means Rush won't be opening their summer tour in Nashvegas, as planned...I used to work at that venue in college, and I've probably seen close to 100 shows there over the years. Feels like a real piece of my past is getting buried. I also heard that the shed in Nobelsville IN might be on it's way out as well (same owners, I believe) Does anyone know if this is a trend? Will more of these sheds that opened up in the mid 80's shut down due to the waning business that is the concert industry? DAMN these kids and their rap music!

I know that the Noblesville amphitheatre is also being sold to land developers. But Indianapolis has said that if this happens they will build a new concert venue downtown. I'm not so sure that it's becoming a trend overall, however. I know that in some places the land that the venue sits on simply has more value as housing than it does as a music center. I think the concert industry is still enough of a business that these places are an exception to the rule. However, once the touring bands of today hang it up...that's another story.

This place is a mile down the road from me. It indeed was sold but the last I heard, the upcoming concert season is supposed to go ahead as planned. Who knows after that.

Surely musicians of the calibre of VH can pull off playing live.

If the vocals are the issue what's to stop em adding some session guys to fill out the sound - I was never too keen on Hagar bringing in the extra guitar to the mix but it didn't stop VH from doing it and it gave them some success too when everyone thought they'd bomb without Diamond Dave?

Has anyone heard the new bass player sing to make comment on whether he can replace the old singer - you never know perhaps he can sing??
