This was sent to me in an email, and it's too good not to share with you guys.
I will ask that regardless of your personal opinions, you respect the intent of this guy's art. Please.
There is a huge rock near a gravel pit on Hwy.25 in rural Iowa.
For generations, kids have painted slogans, names, and obscenities on this rock, changing its character many times.
A few months back, the rock received its latest paint job, and since then it has been left completely undisturbed.
It's quite an impressive sight.
Be sure to scrolldown and check out the multiple photos (all angles) of the rock.
I thought the flag was draped over the rock, but it's not. It's actually painted on the rock too.

Here's the artist

Ray "Bubba" Sorensen.
AWESOME Work, RAY...
Thank you!

This rock and the artist were featured on CBS Sunday Morning a couple weeks ago. It is impressive regardless of one's current political stance.

Morning, Moonie. Hey, is putting a period after a question mark some sort of Canadian thing?

Man I'm a prick this morning. Working on Saturday will do that to you I guess.

I thought it was an amazing piece of art. The fact that the artist is really just a kid is even more impressive. Like I said at the very top of the thread, I hope that people will not use this as an opportunity to talk politics, bitch and complain.
This is about our country and it's fallen heroes. Plain and simple. We don't know them as Republicans or Democrats, Conservatives or Liberals, just heroes. Please, please, PLEASE will everyone respect that.

I was not bitchin or complaing. I agree about the art, I would never be able to do something like that, I never said any thing about the politics. I just instantly knew this where this was going.

I know you weren't, Vader. I just don't want to see things spiral out of control. Thanks for the PM, BTW. I'm tempted to say more, but I won't...

Donna, I don't want this message of patriotism to be lost.
I am going out and looking for giant rocks, and I too, will create one as well.
In all honesty, this is a great great monument if you will, and the "artist" has managed to fly above the scuminess of partisan politics.
Patriotism consists of only one party= America.

Yeah, Dean's
sincerely patriotic post contributed to the hilarity too.
It's still a great thread Donna, and a cool kid who painted a great rock.
