No mention of Perry.

Announced as coaches for the Idol finals: Tony Bennett, Jon Bon Jovi, Barry Gibb, Jennifer Lopez, Martina McBride, Diana Ross, Gwen Stefani and, for a British Invasion night, Peter Noone (of Herman’s Hermits) and Lulu.

Was there mention of Perry being a coach, NIG? Or was it just MR.com poster speculation?

Wishful thinking by the Loons. Kind of like someone else who keeps insisting Perry is getting ready to "do something" in 2007... ;)

Yea, Woooo.
Really going out on limbs with those "He'll be heard from!" prophecies.
That could mean ANYTHING, from illuminating answers to hardball interview questions about cooking spray preferance to recording a deep sigh for BG effect on a song for someone.

I'll give San Juan credit, I held his taint to the fire and he called for a new album from perry.

It's an interesting list. AI is sort of thought of as being cheesy, but some of the most successful singers around right now have come from that show and some of the biggest names in music have been participating for the last couple years. I'm not sure what that says about the state of the music world. :?

Yeah, Perry's going to do something just like Eddie Van Halen. Any day now.

Well that should be interesting.....I read somewhere that there is no love lost between JBJ and Simon Cowell, I got the impression that neither one respects the other. :? Martina McBride, now there is somebody with a great voice. I equate her and Pat Benatar as the female Steve Perry's.

Honestly, I don't want to see SP as a coach or whatever they do on American Idol...and, I'm a Perry lover/loon! I want to see him on stage for us, yes, but not on t.v. Obviously, the show is a hit & there are amazing new singers that came from it, but somehow it would seem a "step down" for SP.

Anyway, I do like Herman Hermits (oh, sweet pea) & Lulu (who can forget "To Sir With Love"?)

Hey ~ did you ever see that "CMT Crossroads" thing with MM?

Pat Benatar was her "Rock" counterpart....Martina said she started out by molding her voice to Pat's.

Just noticed this:
"I'll take his soul and passion over stratospheric notes ANY day! ---tragchk"

Hey - I've been "sigged"! LOL 8)

I don't think SP would even consider participating as a coach or whatever in a TV show.
He must have his reasons,I guess the same reasons why he declined to appear in "....goes to College".
Smart move. 8)

To crib from the "Days of hit-records" thread, I'd like to think THIS is the reason:

"You've got to get good. If you're a singer, you have to learn how to sing. You're not an actor or a rock star. You're a singer. That's your job. You have to master your craft."

Yeah,Bob nailed it! :D

As far as SP is concerned,I definitely believe that he always felt great on stage, doing his job.I guess he doesn't feel too comfortable in a different setting.

That's sort of what I was talking about in my post. I would have thought appearing on there would be a step down for Prince, JBJ, J-Lo, Gwen Stefani, ect, but they're doing it. Is that because they need this show to get exposure?(sorry Jeremey, it's the only word I can think of.) Is it so hard to get new music out there that they resort to things like this show? I have to admit I think it would be a good move for Journey.

Truth to be said,AI is tremendous publicity for anyone involved, not to mention that they get royally payed.
Form a promotional/financial p.o.v. it's a win-win situation.

Deb, I didn't make you a dvd? I'm bad! It's one of the best Crossroads shows. :D Martina does a pretty good job of keeping up with Pat.
