OT | Oscars Anyone?

Anyone else see the Oscars last night? Not a whole lot of highlights for me, and I'm one of the biggest movie geeks out there. Seemed to be filled with bloat. Absolutely thrilled for Marty Scorcese - Though I watched The Departed again this weekend, and while it was definitely his best films since GoodFellas, it didn't top GF or the granddaddy of Scorcese films, Raging Bull, both of which he deserved oscars for.

Good to see Pan's Labyrinth getting recognized. Maybe now we'll finally see that latin-flavored Journey record.

Anyone else think that Jennifer Hudson smoked Beyonce during the song performance? The only problem I have with Hudson's voice is there seems to be one volume all the time. She's got to learn some nuance. But holy shit, what a Cinderella story.

As always, Celine is amazing. One of the greatest voices, ever - Tops Perry in my book, but I still don't listen to Celine Dion records, so that's not saying a lot.

Anyway, just a few thoughts this morning....Anyone else catch the show?

I wish I had watched for the musical performances, but I just didn't. :(

I agree that Celine is a phenominal singer. Steve was asked once about singing with her. He said he thought she was really something and that he didn't think he was good enough to sing with her.

For me, the best part of having Jennifer Hudson getting this recognition is because she's stealing some of Beyonce's thunder and getting back at Simon Cowel. I like Beyonce OK, for the type of singer that she is, I just think her superstardom is more about being bootilicious than about being a great singer.
