On another note,, another guitar players that I forgot is the amazing Tony McAlpine.
Check out Tony, with Steve Vai and Billy Sheehan on this amazing Vai song:

Best part is half way throught (4:59 ), where they all stand next to eachother and while strummin on their own guitar/bass, they play on eachothers neck. (never thought I'd type a sentence like that! )

This is a good thread, but we can do even better.

Name the most talented musicians overall.

Example.

I will say to me, and JSS will disagree, but I don't give a shit, he is wrong, Bryan Adams can do it all.

He plays Rythm guitar. Plays a little lead. Plays Bass. Sings lead. Songwrites. You name it.

there are others to be sure.

Prince, Phil Collins (Euro trash bald cueball POS) drums, sings, guitar. etc etc.

That would be a good thread. Hell, Friga plays guitar, Keys, and sings...well, tries to anyway.

Folkes, please, simply putting Journey players into the your top 5 is not being very articulate.

Soto is questionable. Very good but Perry, Mercury, Presley? I don't know. but I do Love this guy
Deeen IS a top 5 drummer.
Neal IS a top 5 axeman, obviously
Friga IS a juicy fucker, but dude can play
Ross is not A TOP 5 bass player. I DO love Ross, we'll see.

Id have to say:

Prince. Doesnt he play something like 20 instruments? Guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, I dont know what else. He plays all instruments on albums. He sings, composes, arranges and produces.

Sting. He plays guitar, bass, mandolin, piano/keyboards, harmonica, saxophone, pan flute and drums. He sings and writes & arranges.

Jeff. He writes, plays guitar, plays bass, sings, does harmony/backing & arranges. I dont know if he plays drums.
