To make matters worse, tonight's show Deen fell out, congestion got the better of him before the show & he warned before it started that I might need to take the whole thing....this with me being trashed from the many songs I do already! Tonight, I got to do Open Arms, Who's Cryin Now & Faithfully amongst the other 20 some odd songs I normally do, it was insane my voice held out, but we got through it with a fun show to boot (not as bootleg, you bad, bad people!).
Normally I am thrilled to get to do the whole show but could have easily not chosen tonight of all nights, as we tried to make the set a little different from the 1st night in Manchester, but added more songs than usual, I think we clocked in at 2 hours 10 min tonite!
Gonna go pass out now, I have 24 hours of silence to enjoy before doing another 2 in a row, hopefully stay clear of these damn viruses & get home with the voice I came out here with, ha ha!!
You went down with a bang not a whimper old bean!
The audience were quiet, the set was different, the vibe was uncertain at the start but what came out was a bravura performance (warts and all). Neal was electric, JC brilliant, Ross his idiosyncratic best on bass and Deen, well despite his obvious (visual) struggling excelled on skins focusing on the job at hand. You, well you delivered in spades. I'm biased of course but this Journey novice loved every jot, tittle, quaver and riff from the moment that iconc 'Who' track wound down to the 'move along now ladies and gents please'. Biggest thrill for me 'Faithfully' and 'Send Her My Love' - both tracks I've heard you do a thousand times on JSSB tours, but in this context they shone like the Kohinoor diamond.
What a night - Journey beat the crap out of the manchester Apollo and Man U did the same to Lille.
See you in Brumingam
