Look Into The Future,
Next,

best albums they ever recorded. i wish they would play this stuff on tour. oh and tour canada more often. ever hear of toronto?

Topaz has to be one of the greatest songs ever recorded by any band.

I think the self-titled debut album is a masterpiece, and "Look into the Future" is one of the best songs the band has ever recorded.

"Of a Lifetime" is my favorite Journey song and encapsulates nearly everything I truly love about Journey.

Answer: No, I didn't.

The musicianship is flawless. However, Journey hired a guy who could sing a little, and well, that was that.

Yes Stone in Love is a better song.

I don't want to ruin the authors' thread.

It is awesome musicianship...All those guys were so progressive and deep.

The reason I responded initially was that it is not their best work.

Gregg Rolie's voice was excellent for the style that they did for the first three/four albums.

I enjoy "Stone in Love" but there's no way that compares to anything from Journey.

I agree, it was the first Journey song I ever heard. And two years later, seeing them do that song live with Perry on background vocals was priceless.

Best albums they ever recorded???? WHOA!!!!! That's quite a statement. Hey, if that's how you truly feel, I say good for you. My hunch is that you are in the minority when it comes to that statement. While there are definitely some Journey fans who can honestly say they were fans of the earlier music, the reality is that 99% of all Journey fans never heard of the band until a guy by the name of Steve Perry was brought into the band!

Maybe, but 99.9% of Journey fans never heard of Steve Perry until he joined a band called Journey.

It goes both ways.

Journey was a special band before Perry joined and even more special after.

Nickel and Dime is stratospherically difficult to cover (I've tried it on keys and forget about it). Most of those pre-Perry Journey fans turned their back on the band in 1978. I didn't know any were still around. I say, rock on, brother. Whatever rocks ya.
