Great vid....love to see this done with SP and Gregg on vocals.I think it adds to the track and is better than the album version.

Can you get this PBS soundstage performance on a professional DVD? Just as Steve Perry did with the MTV Escape tour performance, this should be re-mastered as well. The true Journey fans would be all over this! I'd love a DVD history of all incarnations of this band, actually. Sort of like a Time3 box set...but on DVD! Good idea? :)

I wonder about that Soundstage thing too jetser. PBS is always selling DVDs of their performances to raise money, I wonder if there would be any way to approach them about this. There is also a PBS show called Austin City Limits that I've been told Journey performed on. I've never seen it and don't know if it's even true, but someone told me they had been on it. Froy?

Those old Midnight Special shows would be great to see remastered too.

Great idea! I think one of the Pre-Perry era is in the works.

I always loved the SP & GR vocal harmonies. The live version of this song just about turned me inside out. I remember watching this PBS special and I couldn't wait to see Journey live. I'm so lucky that I was able to see them before GR left the band.

I was just at some HUGE book store a few weeks ago and noticed there's LOTS of soundstage DVD's on sale there, so PBS is getting some of that stuff out, but have yet to come across the Journey stuff. I've never actually seen the soundstage performances anywhere, tv or not. Would LOVE to get it on DVD though.

This is the song that got me interested in Journey in the first place. Not this clip, but the album version with Rolie on vocals.

I don't think that PBS has ever sold that particular show on DVD. I know people have asked in the past, but nothing ever has come from it. All I have is a recorded version from tv. :D

Thanks for this clip! I have never seen it and I love it! Love the harmonies between SP and Rollie too! Love SP's air guitar in the background! Pretty funny!

Did I mention I LURVE this PBS show? :D Most especially, "Winds of March"...so fine. I also love SP/GR sharing the songs - the contrast between them was something special. I still remember the feeling of anticipation of waiting for SP to come in (no offense, to GR but SP is "the voice").
Also, if there is a boot of SP singing the entire song, "You're on your own" I would love to hear it - he sings it at the beginning of this PBS special over the '78 concert footage - it sounds great, love it.

I also checked out Of A Lifetime. This has always been a favorite of mine. I asked Jon (during the anniversary tour) why they dropped it from the setlist and he said "the guys thought it was too slow" okay, whatever, they need to see this clip. It comes from what looks like an amazing show. Gregg's vocal is great and Neal is amazing.

Lora- I too saw Journey while Gregg was still in the band (a few times) and am so glad I did. As you know, I'll go see the GRB whenever possible. In fact the twins first live show was with the GRB!! :)
