I sent some of Jeff's Journey bootlegs to a friend of mine who played drums on some of Nuno Bettencourt's projects. Here is his reply.

Whadda ya mean shmuck? Jeff is well known in the industry as a great singer capable of many styles. He sang on Yngwie's first album or two and has a long resume singing for other bands such as Talisman and solo stuff. Nuno knows him I think. He was producing Flesh back in the day. He was in Soul Sirkus with Neal Schon, Virgil Donati and Marco Mendoza. Now there's a lineup for ya. I KNOW, he's not Steve Perry but who the fuck is? The Perry clone they had blew his voice out and had to be replaced at the beginning of the tour with Def Leppard. He was OK but he had voice trouble for the last 4 years according to Neal. Honestly, I think he was just razzing me! He's quite a good drummer. He answered another question about Neal with this:

neal watched me play with nuno in 97, at the namm show. after the show he said
{joking}do ya think you can play more solid, and we both laughed....
