Jorn Lande - Edge of the Blade - like it?

Postby pdsidd » Thu Mar 29, 2007 6:05 am

Someone lent me an Album by a European guy called Jorn Lande which has a cracking version of Edge of the Blade on it. Wondered if anyone had heard it (or of him!) - really worth checking out.

This is a hard one...

I think Jorn is fucking awesome...simply awesome...In my opinion, no one out there has a better rock voice than David Coverdale...I know I'm going to get shot here for saying that, but Perry to me isn't Rock. It's something else...well, Rock as in Metal, Hard hitting, heavy, etc. Perry sounds out of his element when he gets angry/nasty in his music. In fact, the most angry I can take Perry is in Edge of the blade...when he goes "if its sharp, it cuts..." is *almost* too contrived for me....

I sorta think of perry going "Meet me at the church on time.." LOL!!

But I digress...back to Jorn, er Coverdale. I think Coverdale is simply the most amazing hard rock vocalist out there....and Jorn captures the mans essence closer than any other guy out there. He's not a clone...but he seems to have been born with the same vocal goodies that Coverdale has...

I LOVE his work with Millenium and I will repeatedly say that Hourglass is one of the greatest albums recorded under the frontiers label. I think his work with the snakes rules, with ark, with Allen, with Masterplan, fuck...the guy could fart and belch into a condenser mic and I would buy it...

But his version of Edge Of The Blade....meh! A serious low point in a nearly flawless career of perfect singing...

Ok, I have heard it. The guitar and lead vox I like very much. Could do without the synth and some of the backing vocals though. Lande does have a set of pipes.

The synth is what kills me on that song...

By the way, let me add...the cover of Burn on that album kicks arse...

That and the Partridge Family "Ba, ba, ba" singing over the guitar work.

I think Lande could do an awesome cover of it under the right circumstances.

Right now, I would say the Human Clay version of Edge or Frontiers and Jeremey's versions I like much better.
