I know that "bi-polar disorder" has recently become fashionable in some weird kind of way - but this condition used to be called "manic depression" and there's nothing lame or phoney about that. Who knows though if Weiland's wife has it for real or if she simply threw a spectacular hissy fit....

I GUARANTEE that IF this is true then people around this moron have TOLD her she really has these problems and she's denied and ignored until now, when the doors to the clink are swinging open and beckoning.

Yes, it's especially easy to be cynical about this particular case. And the "bi=polar" line seems like something dreamt up by her PR people.

But the fact is...most genuine manic depressives behave badly when they're ill and as with addicts - it's hard to properly face up to the problem until the consequences become too extreme to cope with.

Also - it could be argued that she HAS taken responsibility by admitting her problem, adjusting the medication and paying for the damage.

Are people getting pissed off in this thread because she might be lying? Or because she might be ill? I can't really tell...

Or are people just envious that she's shagging a rock star and living the high-life?

Actually, just tired of celebrities (and people in general) who refuse to admit they have acted like assholes because they are assholes. There is always some underlying excuse that becomes the reason they have acted like an asshole and why they are not actually responsible for what they did.

I would like to see someone stand up and sincerely say "I'm sorry. I behaved like an asshole, how can I make this right?" How refreshing would that be?

Too true! Anytime a person in the public eye misbehaves they immediately go into rehab. It's suddenly the cure for everything from addiction to diarrhea mouth.

Who the hell would be jealous of the person married to Scott Weiland? Hell, I'd be a heroin addict too, if I had him for my spouse. The average Joe would have been in prison long ago, if they had as many problems with drugs, as SW has. Unfortunately, our society today empowers people to not have to ever say that.

I follow both Velvet Revolver and Camp Freddy which Scott is involved with, so I would have heard fairly quickly if something was up with Scott. I also have several friends who are bi-polar, and when they aren't on their meds, it is awful. She's in my prayers that she gets herself sorted out soon.

Celebrities get plenty of coverage for all their right-on, worthy causes too. It's the fame that gets the column inches - not just the bad behaviour.

Plus again we have the judgemental take that this woman is being merely "childish". Maybe she is. Maybe she isn't. Who knows? But it always amazes me just how often I see this self-righteous finger-pointing at addicts and the mentally ill on a site which so regularly celebrates binge-drinking, abusive rows and the joys of Ambien dependency.

The better treatment I speak of for Celebrities is like P. Hilton getting caught with Heroin a few years ago, the normal person in the states would get jail time for that.

Celebrities and to an extent, their families are thrust into the spotlight, and as such, are up for public scrutiny, whether or not rightfully so. When you live in the public eye, you have to deal with people saying things that may or may not be true. Often times you won't like what is said about you.

Incidently, I had the um, "pleasure" of being given 3 Ambien recently, for my terrible insomnia. I slept the best I have in ages. I can see how people can become dependent on them. It scared the crap out of me.

I couldn't tell you. It's pretty much a sleeping pill from what I know.

I was just thinking about troubled celebrities who weren't given special treatment....apart from David Crosby and Robert Downey Jnr I can't think of any others who have done jail time....

there aren't many here in the states that can't get out of trouble pretty easy.

Now that we know why they're both a couple of jackasses, what is Mrs. Weiland's offering on why Scooter sucks so much?
