Kind of OT: New medical laser for blown out vocal cords.

Postby Liquid_Drummer » Fri Mar 30, 2007 6:43 am

If you didnt hear about it Steven Tyler of Aerosmith blew his cords out big time this past year and had to cancel the whole tour as a result. This procedure fixed him up and from what I have read he is singing like he did 25 years ago...

Maybe SP will make a come back someday. I believe that the only reason he is not performing is because he can no longer live up to the high standard he set himself. He blew them out IMHO and honestly who wouldnt have. His speaking voice as heard on the most recent interviews are all the proof you need. Major cord damage is heard in his audable speaking voice. This treatment is new hope for anyone in that posistion.

Wow.I was hoping such a technology will appear someday.Thank God. :)
With that said,I would just LOVE to see the names of the singers on Dr.Zeitels list of patients...I bet there are a few very familiar ones.

A broken blood vessel in the cords may be different than nodules (which is what most, even I did & got surgery for, develop) & no where in this new treatment does it mention this would be possible for nodule surgery. If it is, it is an amazing breakthru in science for us singers!!

Hey Jeff,

What did the nodules cause your voice to sound like before they were removed ? Any differences after ? Man I bet that was scary...

"Dr. Zeitels has used the laser to treat not only broken vessels, but also dilated veins, polyps and precancerous lesions known as dysplasia."

Isnt polyps the same as nodules ?

Augeri should look into it.

Perry? I dunno...does he NEED it? I don't remember hearing anywhere he LOST his voice or that it blew out.

#1) Honestly, on TBF I don't think he sounds THAT much different than Frontiers era. It IS different but that's not a voice in need of any repair.
#2) I also prefer that version of his voice (ROR through TBF with the FTLOSM/TBF voice sounding slightly more mature than the ROR version, which differed from Frontiers)
#3) granted, we're 11 years out of his last real recording, but we don't KNOW if there's been great depreciation that would KEEP him from being able to lay down an album.

Yes, the White Socks thing was abysmal but it was off-the-cuff Acapulco or accapella or whatever that's called. No accompanyment.

JMJ  I became a loon for a minute. Hope NoMoreTails isn't reading, he'll hate me. :P

Yeah, what 13 said. :D

Besides that several people, including our friend Lora right here, have said recently that he can indeed still sing.

I meant his previous post, not the one about WYLAW.

It would be great if Perry would prove that he not only still has a voice, but desire to share it again. I know we can all agree on that.

Agreed, but that's why I never even bothered to mention it. All specualtion.

If I were a "Loon" I would say "He doesn't have to prove anything",but as a fan my only wish is just to hear him sing whenever he's ready.
