What does this mean? Regarding Steve Perry

I was just reading Andrew's front page & so checked out Eric Ragno's site: http://ericragno.com/ when I saw this: (scroll down to the pic of Loffler's with JSS - hey, I'm in the pic, too!): -- note the second to last sentence:

" I did get to take in the killer set by Jeff Scott Soto and friends a few nights later, again with Josh & Jamie in tow. The club was packed with JSS and Journey fans, and for good reason! Jeff had his classic solo lineup in tow (Gary Schutt, Dave Dzialak & Howie Simon) and put on a great performance, even if the sound system sucked ass. The show was opened by the Marco Mendoza trio, featuring Marco (Soul SirkUS) on bass & vocals, Steve Weingart on keyboards and Joey Heredia on drums. Joey is a killer drummer, and we recorded the drums for Josh Ramos (The Storm) at his place. Ironically, Joey's previous client that week was Steve Perry. But the evening's Journey ties didn't end there."

Hmmmm...

its going to have to get a bit more specific than this.. joey may have a cake making business on the side and sold perry a cake ,, he sure didnt make a big deal about it... however, perry ..'07.. 8)

I, for one. am NOT complaining. Client = "Perry was paying him to play drums for something". I highly doubt it was for his vocal lessons.

hey hey hey, Larry. I was in the cake baking industry for a while, and Perry never ordered one from me.

I tend to want to believe that Joey's other client (SP) was just brushing up on his drumming techniques, so he could join Lar on stage at some point.

Yep, and he's been losing weight and growing out his hair. The boys gonna record something and evidently perform somewhere if he's getting his looks together. But like was said earlier, I'm not getting my hopes up yet.

I was actually joking... but if people want to believe it, I'd rather be surprised, than hopeful.

First, Fuck You Niggy. Second, this can easily be taken one of two ways. That Steve Perry was a recent client, or more likely, that he was a client when they did the drums for the Storm.....back in the day. I doubt any "leaks" are gonna from this Ragu or Ragona or whatever the fuck his name is. For Perry "leaks" look for people associated with Randy Jackson. I've "heard" more than once that they explored the possibility of collaborating. Whether or not that has happened is anyone's guess.

He owns a studio, too. He is an amazing drummer. So, it is hard to know when this took place - was it during The Storm or recent?

he is beyond amazing. we sat in front of his set at NAMM when Marco, Steve and he played in the Dean Markley booth. and then again at Loffler's. complicated-ly blinding. there is not a word for those shows and Joey.

I'll look for that pic....

Debbie, I wished you lived out here - we could go to La Va Lee where Marco Mendoza & Joey Heredia play all the time...next shows are in May.

Right, but does the writer mean that this took place in Jan. or a long time ago when Josh Ramos was in The Storm, which was what? in the mid 90s? It seems a little confusing now that I re-read it. Although, Josh Ramos is shown celebrating with pizza at the bottom after finishing a record - so, that sounds like it was actually in Jan. Geez, I sound like a P.I. -- long day with kids out on Spring Break & they are driving me NUTS! I need some good news.

Wow, I had no idea I’d stirred up all this trouble! I like a good Perry rumor as much as the next guy, although I certainly wasn’t looking to start one! Really simple, Joey Heredia is an awesome drummer that runs a studio used by popular clients (but NOT The Storm, which incidentally featured members of Journey.). Josh Ramos & I spent a few days there recording drums with the phenomenal John Macaluso for the disc we wrote together. (I’d post a spoiler about this disc here but I don’t want to get into any more trouble... : )

I don’t recall the exact timeline but if you scroll back a page on my site (http://www.ericragno.com) I’m sure it’s all there. Joey told us that Steve Perry had brought in some people to record a week or so before. I’m as big a fan as anyone so I wanted to hear more about it, just like you do. Joey said that Steve was VERY cool, and gave him an autographed copy of the live Escape DVD, which we later watched (muted, as we were recording) throughout the day. It sounded like Steve had been there to produce a band, which folks know he does from time to time. (Check out http://www.fanasylum.com/steveperry/ for a good read that touches on his love of this.)

So I’m sorry for the confusion. I was only trying to say was that the night at Loffler’s was pretty special, and there were lots of Journey ties both on stage and in the crowd, where I stood with many of you. Journey was all I listened to as a kid (Dream After Dream may have saved my life) and I still love all the incarnations of this band (although they haven’t been the same since George Tickner left...who said that, Monker? I think that’s hysterical…) And I can’t wait to see what the new album sounds like with my bro Jeff at the microphone, who has loved and respected this band as much as I have. Those guys are keeping the legacy alive and I am grateful for that.

That being said, it's late and I have to go pack. I’m going to New York to see a guy named Hugo.

Thanks for stopping by my site. Special thanks to Debbie for bringing this thread to my attention! You can always check out the latest chapter at http://www.ericragno.com.

Very cool of you to pop in and clarify. So, Perry was there to help produce? Cool. A lot of Perry fans here. Any info. you get would be much appreciated. You sure hang around with some cool motherfuckers, not to mention immensely talented musicians. Again, thanks for the clarification.

PS There are a lot of us here that await a JSS fronted Journey, too.

Thanks Saint John. After all the work you put into getting my name right in your previous post, it seemed like the least I could do. :D
