Two unreleased Journey songs

I don't know if anyone here has heard these before. The audio cracks a little in some spots, but overall it is very good. It would be interesting to hear these on an album.

Let It Rock You (sounds like the Escape era)

Walk Yourself Right Outta Here (possibly the Infinity/Evolution era)

Let me know if the links don't work.

I think those are unreleased SP solo tunes. I've got them on my hard drive at home.

Hmm...the person I got them from said they were Journey tunes. Maybe they were originally left off Journey albums and Perry later took them for his solo work?

:P These songs are definitely throw aways....not crazy about either one of them and I can't stand the way Perry fuckin' squeals on WYROH....

The solos in the first one sounds like Neal to me.

See, that's exactly what I thought. I considered that they might be mis-labeled and actually be Perry solo songs, but that definately sounds like Neal on guitar to me.

I know there are plenty of people here who can tell you for sure. But I think they are both rejected Journey songs.

Well, I got them on a disc called Steve Perry Demos. Of course that doesn't mean that they were just strictly solo work. I actually like Let It Rock You quite a bit. The same disc has the version of "With A Tear" with vocals.

There's a thread that says "Ask Steve".

Ask Sallee,too.

From What I understand LIRY is a left over from the ROR writing sessions.
Not sure what era WYFROH is from.

That would explain the chorus of Perry's.

I dunno...I'm thinking LIRY is from the Departure era. I swear I could hear Gregg Rolie's backing vocals...but I could be wrong.

Nah..with the drum machine, this reaks mid 80's...(not cool early 80s, ala departure / escape).

Hahaha...Cosby heads rolling right along with "LIRY"...Reminds me of something from "YTMND". (You're the man now dog!)

I always heard that Let it Rock you was from ROR.

They are on the "Steve Perry demos" CD because Froy was selling a couple CD's of 'rarities' for about $40/disk years ago. Somebody took the best and put them on one CD and started circulating it...again, years ago.

"Let it Rock You" is supposedly from Escape sessions and "Walk Your Face Right Outta Here" is supposedly from ROR sessions.

IMO, it SOUNDS like it should be the other way around, or that "Walk Your Face..." is leftover from Strett Talk...but that's not what I keep hearing.

Froy may have more info...These have been around forever...maybe 15yrs or so.

I keep thinking that I hear Gregg Rolie in "Let It Rock You". When Gregg was in the band, there was a distinct harmony, which I haven't heard in the band since he left. Just my thoughts..........

Walk Your Face right out of Here could be an old Perry solo tune, because he is the only one singing, and for some reason, I don't hear Neal's guitar in it. Again, just my thoughts........

Sorry....... I am really pooped out. My daughter's 11th birthday today, and having 8 girls over, loaded with Rootbeer and Pizza........ you know how noisy it got!

I'm soooooo glad you said that. Great vocal range for him.....but did he have to caw like a crow for 3/4 of the song?

"Let It Rock You" sounds like a Journey with Steve, Neal, Gregg, Smitty, and.... Randy! That bass line is fierce... and some good soloing by Neal!

It definately could've been a hit, I think. Any actual confirmation on what album it was supposed to be on? I think they should dust it off and add it to the live set!

WYROH definately has an Infinity/Evolution feel to it. That bluesy vocal and piano line reek of that Journey era, and Perry's voice is still pretty high. I really don't like the screamy thing Perry does and it's ruined a few songs for me.. WYROH definately doesn't do much for me. It's a good thing this one was left in the bin.

The problem with WYROH is that it's not a polished-up studio track. If you listen to the 'Something to Hide' studio demo, the vocals aren't even close to the final version. They're very choppy, but it's also in the stage where he's trying to piece the vocals together. I'd put money on it that a final studio version of WYROH would be amazing.

With A Tear with vocals? Anywhere I could get this? I would very much like to hear it.

Hmm... Let It Rock You could easily be anywhere from Escape to ROR. Doesn't sound like Frontiers material, though.

I think WYROH is from early Journey. Those first two chords reek of Evolution.

It's not what you think...Perry just repeatedly mumbles some lines. I think all they had was a title, "With a tear in her eye, she is crying". Perry just adlibs some other things...and you can't understand much of it. It is VERY far away from being a completed song.

And, yes, there is "With a Tear" with vocals and "Winds of March" without, and a complete version of "Velvet Curtain" fromt he box set....Those 'rarities' (which are NOT rare any more) were one thing Froy contributed in a good way...and his video collection.

I think WYROH is from early Journey. Those first two chords reek of Evolution.

It's not...it's as simple as that.

Well, as soon as you are made a moderator, maybe you can do something about me. Until then, I guess all you can do is whine and pout. Sorry!

Just curious...

Do you have any relevant to offer this thread? Or, are you just here to tell everybody who wants to talk about Journey to leave the forum?

"Do you have any relevant to offer this thread?" Another illiterate dumbfuck. Why can't anyone form a proper sentence tonight? Stay out of the Des Moines meth houses. Your brain is fried, man.

Answer the question:

Is your only purpose on this forum to tell those who want to talk about Journey to leave?
