At Kevin's my space account above he talks about his new cd of Journey covers, and shows the art work for it. At last we can get a chance to here what it would have been like to have Kevin at the helm of Journey. Hopefully the songs will differ a lot from the re recordings of Journey hits with Soto. If not, I'll buy both :D .-ERIC

Now this is something I am looking forward to.Always been curious as to how KC's voice would have been for Journey.
He's one heck of a singer, that's for sure.

I wonder about the songs...Where's the list?

This pretty much sums it up eh?

Kevin states, "The musicians and songwriters of Journey are simply the best in the music industry." He adds, "The Journey love-laden sound has won the hearts of millions of fans world wide. I am proud to consider them personal friends and label them America's Finest Rock Band.

Kevin sat right in back of me at a Journey show in Chicago. He was with a hot chick and seemed very cool toward everyone. I would love to hear the work he did with Journey. I thought those songs were completed before Perry stepped in and derailed the Chalfant-fronted Journey. I will buy the new CD just to prove to "myself" that Augeri should NOT have been hired instead of Kevin. It's a tribute to Kevin's level of class that he still speaks so highly of the Journey guys even though they made such a mind-numbing decision like picking The Wiggler over an established singer. "Sorry Kevin, we're going to move forward with the maintenance manager of The Gap." I bet THAT made Chalfant feel really fuckin' good. :?

Larry - I just clicked on Chalfant's My Space page - linked above - and it was playing "I can't hold Back". Has your computer got speakers?

No, not that show (we missed the first third of the show because of the fuckin' snow). He was at Loopfest when Journey played with Hagar. The year escapes me. 2004 perhaps? I almost got kicked out of the Waukegan show because I went off when, after buying 2 beers, was told they're not allowed in the seating area. My exact quote was "Then why the fuck do you even sell them?" So I chugged them, wolfed down a piece of that shitty free cake they had and returned to my seat. I really think Friga may have lipped Every Generation that night. Suspiciously close to the album as far as vocals go.

I went with Sadie65 and Suitemadameblue....it was snowing and I thought I was dead with Sadie drinving..

Yep, dude, we are the same exact person. I too had to chug beers. I remember vividly, chugging about 3 beers at once and going back in. Congratulations, you were at a Lipped show.

Unless we believe that Chalfant is a saint who is above resentment and envy...I'd say the timing pretty strange too, Larry. The album must surely be motivated by a competitive streak to some extent...

The only good thing about the snow is that it kept the locals in their homes. For the most part, Waugegan is a hell hole. A lot of illegal Mexicans and white trash. I liked the venue, though. Even if the show was a fraud. :x

Mmmm... I agree Larry.... I personally cant wait to buy this Chalfant CD... but surely...Journey will halt its release, if they are indeed releasing a re-hash of their hits with JSS????

Journey CAN"t stop it. They can only get paid royalties. This isn't communism here you know?

Journey can't stop him recording and releasing an album of Journey material, because Journey does not own the publishing rights to their own music. As long as the proper royalties are paid to the proper people, Friga or Neal can't do a thing about it.

I'm still pissed at Steve for interfering with Kevin becoming the new singer in the early 90's, KC would have done a smashing job (he's a MUCH better vocalist than Fraudgieri), and Steve had no intention of doing anything with Journey anyway.

At last we can get a chance to here what it would have been like to have Kevin at the helm of Journey. Hopefully the songs will differ a lot from the re recordings of Journey hits with Soto. If not, I'll buy both :D .-ERIC

Has there been a commercial CD with Soto doing Journey songs, or are you referring to the various covers he's done over the years? I would like a full CD of that!

Cool, does anyone know if it will contain any of the songs written while Kevin was working with Journey in the mid 90's? That is what I'd like to hear. Either way, I'm sure this cd will piss a lot of people off. I can't wait to hear it. Thanks for the post.

Love that live Survivor track done by Kevin. :)

As for the Fly2Freedom CD,well, looks like the Journey tracks, except for maybe one or two cuts, are from the Perry-era,all greatest hits.
Someone told me they have a harder edge here and there, but they're true to the originals and Keving sang his booty off on each. 8)

I'm even more excited about this now!

On a side note...Isn't it funny that the title of the CD ends with "Freedom",the what-ROR-should-have-been? :o

Please allow me to sound stupid here, and I know it's not something I'm known for here  ...

But why can't some people accept the idea that it POSSIBLY is a chance to let the fans who have stated numerous times that they want to know what the Journey with Kevin would have sounded like? Kevin is in effect pleasing a portion of the fans that were/are interested in this idea. I seriously doubt (and could be wrong) that this is a calculated measure to steal sales away from the "Actual" Journey band, anymore than Michael Bolton in 1985 elluding to the fact that his last "rockish" album was him fronting Journey.

Yep!!! Can't wait for it either. I was one of the few that want this done back before, and right after Arrival was done. But a lot of people was against that. Both journey's and Kevin's should be good!!-ERIC
