Awkward

Wow! I don't know what happened to this place in the last 24 hours but the awkward silence right now is incredible. I see lots of people logging in to look around but no one is saying anything. It's kinda like the first time you got laid and afterwards all you could say was "uhhhhhhhhhh...... thanks" You know that kind of awkward moment?

So THAT'S what it's like when you get laid. I'm looking forward to it now.

I don't know what happened today or yesterday, but I can guess... Ed has done this before, i.e., calling JourneyRox some terrible, terrible names one night for no reason, almost like he was spinning out of total control--it hurt her feelings pretty bad. What I really hate is the posters with real points of view like TNC, SF-Dano, Matthew, and a host of others I can't remember right now (even Froy) don't post when there is such bad mojo here. I wish they would start an interesting or funny thread like they used to which would generate lots of discussion about music, Journey, equipment, you name it... If I could think of something to start one of those threads I would do it--maybe I'll go back in the archives and resurrect one of those old ones.

One last observation: the 30+ year-old pictures of Steve Perry should be put in perspective, shouldn't they? He doesn't look like that anymore--he's a grandfather, isn't he? Anyway, I get the pictures--I ALWAYS go look and admire and wish, but does it always have to go into the ditch re: all the things that we would do to him, etc.? Maybe it's just us trying to make a connection with him, I don't know. The only thing is it seems to invite in a lot of the ugliness that happens on the board.. I am at this point just thinking out loud. Just thoughts, not criticisms--I have a hard time letting go of the old Journey, too. It's like opening an old photo album and sighing and then closing it and putting it away...

Cool post. Honest observations. For the record, AR and JourneyRox are good friends now, I believe. So I guess instances like this do have a silver lining, as hard as that may seem right now.

Good point. I don't even post that much when the mojo isn't this bad only because... well eventually it all seems to go bad anyway. I think I have started ONE topic here and it was JSS's Happy Birthday topic. I might be apt to start others but... man, you just never know what you're going to get jumped on for around here. Having a Steve Perry avatar is probably offense number one (at least I pick funny ones though... LOL!), but I have said many times that I am not a "loon" so maybe that's why I haven't been crucified yet. I dunno.

Just seems that if you don't have tons of posts, you are a basically nothing and for the most part treated as such.
I think more people would post if that wasn't the case. :?:
So I usually don't get in on a lot of the big stuff because it's just a lot of arguing anyway. I post on the topics that I think are fun or where I think I have something to say that I probably won't get my head ripped off for saying.

Ed's love for Journey poured out in the form of some questionable pictures he posted. He, like a few of us, were tired of the "cock drool" as someone else so eloquently put it. He views this sort of fawning as a big part of the reason Journey has always received the "corporate" label. Furthermore, the said thread really started getting goofy when the talk turned to fantasy and people began posting "pecker pictures." Ed should be given a free pass for his meltdown because his intentions were in the best interest of Journey, he was baited, and he has a solid history as a member, a friend and a poster. A week is simply too much.

Then PM ME about it.....don't take matters into your own hands.

This is MY board and I ALONE will do the moderating. Is that understood?

If Ed wants to talk, he knows where to find me.

Good point fredinator, and I agree.

However, the thread was not just Steve Perry. It also included pics (posted by several regular posters here) of

JSS
Neal
Ross
Jonathan
Adrian Paul
Al Pacino
Viggo
Journey as a group
Dead animals
Dead people

and even Deano's dick (it had a smiley face ). There were other guys too I can't remember. Oh yeah, a long speech from Louis Farrakahn.

Andrew and the other members here (ok, most) have made a lot of progress in bringing the forum forward and making it a place people could feel safe to post in. Just a few rules - keep the porn to one thread (and it is not very Journey related either - my opinion) and no personal attacks.

Believe me as a forum owner, those are really simple.

Andrew deserves support in applying the rules fairly. jmho

Bullshit. Perry was ignoring his fans long before message boards came around. He CHOOSES to keep us in the dark out of selfishness. He enjoys being an enigma and uses his "privacy" mullarky as an excuse. He sure wants us to keep buying masters, remasters, re-remasters and so forth, but he can't keep us in the loop as far as what he's doing, thinking or planning on doing. For as loyal as we've been , he's pretty much pissed on us for a long time. Admit it, he's been very shitty to his fans for the better part of the last 13 years.

Couldn't disagree with that statement more. If you are talking about him being shitty to fans by not singing or performing for them then that's your opinion and one thing. And believe me, I'd love to hear him sing again too, but as a whole, you'll never convince me the man is shitty to his fans, sorry. :D

I think it is rediculous that the thread is shut down over a "cry baby" that couldn't handle a thread of pictures that WAS JOURNEY RELATED.... This is a JOURNEY Board Right???

So HE decided that because HE didn't like the thread, HE would get the thread shut down by posting gross pictures of dead people, and start making personal attacks towards the women on that thread who did absolutely NOTHING to him.

This board has other threads on here that are NOT Journey related at all, and yet they are still up, and still going strong, and ALLOWED to be on the board. You know , I don't like some of those "unrelated Journey threads" either, so it is simple for me, I DON'T go into those threads that I don't like and cause problems to get the thread shut down.

So for ANYONE complaining about ONE Journey related thread, all ANYONE had to do was SKIP the thread, but instead a "Cry Baby" that HAS to have "his way" got what HE WANTED & got that thread shut down! That was his goal! Despite the fact that HE is not on this board now, HE still wins

Face it , he's been throwing "bait" at us for a long time. He'll never come out and say what he's planning on doing. Everything has to deal in secrecy and privacy. He's not a fuckin' CIA agent. He was the lead singer of Journey. The FANS made him, and continue to make him, wildly rich. But there's no reciprocation. None at all. You'd think he could have announced that all along he intended to go to the Walk of Fame ceremony. Nope, Mr. Privacy needs to show up unannounced. He's continued to play this cat and mouse bullshit for too long. On returning to Journey: "I think we really have gone our separate ways." THEN, "I'm one that believes in never say never." Well which is it? He sure didn't seem to have a problem addressing the White Sox's wishes, a team and a group of people he has NO history with. But his fans, who've had unanswered questions for 13 years...nope, can't find time for them. Fuck, he's got his ex band members, his "brothers" as he called them, bound by some ridiculous gag order that he basically extorted them into signing. So in the last 13 years he's given away a few free autographed CD's (The Q&A) and met the Perryville girls at the Journey star. WHOOP-DE-FUCKIN'-DO. The only insatnces he has time or use for us is when it's time for us to line up and buy the latest repackaged CD or DVD. Other than that, he sure doesn't seem to give a shit about us. Sadly, we remain blindly loyal...and I'm as guilty as anyone.

Saint John,

I think Ed's great (even though we disagree, often) but your comments are simply BS. I hate what has happened here for many reasons, but to say what Ed did was in the best interest of Journey is ridiculous. And the corporate label is due to fawners? Wrong. If that were the case, you'd have that label for lots of bands in that same era. You think those spandex pants were worn by lead singers cause they were comfortable? I don't think so. I do think probably NS would get a good laugh out of this.

I sincerely hope Ed and Andrew can work this thing out. MR and the Annex need them both.

I put "his intentions" NOT his actions...BIG difference. And fawners ARE the reason the band has a sissyish connotation. Herbie Herbert even alluded to Journey being known as a "chick band." No other band had as many rabid female fans as Journey during that era....no one.

I hear what you are saying, SJ, but to say there's been no reciprocation is, IMO, not fair. He gave and gave and gave back in the late 70s/early 80s. He and the rest of the guys toured months on end. They all sacrificed their private and personal lives to give us what we wanted. If he truly is unable to sing any longer (not sure I believe that but I'll throw that out for the sake of argument) then he paid the ultimate price to give all of his fans what they wanted back then..which was concert after concert.

On the one hand, I wish he would tell us more. But on the other, I think gosh, I wouldn't tell us anything either. Especially seeing how rabid some fans can be. It's gotta be a scary thing to be so idolized. But like you say, we remain blindly loyal.....

Who said anything about what he wears? As for the "loyal" part, there's always a relationship between the artist/group and the fans. USUALLY, it's a 'give and take" relationship. Unfortunately, with Mr. Perry, it seems exclusively that we give and he takes. Moreover, my "loyalty" comment was in terms of loyalty to the music. If your brain was bigger than a tick's dick, you'd have realized that. Instead, you throw out the "crusades" bullshit. I see you insist on baiting me. Keep it up.
