Most of the vocal performances I've heard from that tour are better than the ones I've heard from the ROR tour and at least equal to the ones from the '83 tour.

You know, I feel SO fortunate that I got to see Steve Perry/Journey 3 times, and I feel bad that I MISSED out seeing him in concert with FTLOSM Band. :(

Perry is such a GREAT performer on stage, and that was REAL fun to watch!! Thanks for sharing that here. :D

Perry could have sounded like an expresso machine ginding his own bean and you'd say that. He was raspy, didn't go for any high notes and like I said, canceled the rest of the tour because of his on-going illness.....I have the Beacon DVD, I'll go listen to it to make sure I'm right....

Any wonder the guy isn't performing? Come on dude, did you actually think his FTLSM vocals were shitty? He may not have had the crystal clear strastopheric vocals he did in the 70s, but I'd take 60 percent of what he gave out during FTLSM over most others. The soul he emotes is second to none IMO. Have a listen.

I think he sounds great. No he doesn't sound like 30 year old Steve Perry but great nonetheless. Thank you for posting this.

That acapella version of Let It Be Me from the New Jersey show is all the proof anyone needs that there's a lot more to Steve Perry's voice than high notes.

You got it. I love that tune combined with "Missing You". Vocal perfection.

That's the difference between some though. I think he sounded OK, but he was raspy and did NOT attempt any high notes in Pittsburgh. I'm not sure where Pittsburgh was on the tour list as to when he called it quits, but he sounded bad in Pittsburgh. Sorry. As for his voice not being like in the 80's and 90's....No shit!!! I think we all can figure that out......He has lost a great bit and THAT is why he is not performing anymore I'm sure!!!!

How can you tell how much he lost?"A great bit"?How do you know that and why are you so sure about the reason why he is not performing?

Just asking.

Btw,thanks for the clip,SteveF,it was great to see it again. :)

Played the album version again and though yes, FTLOSM does have plenty of parts that are *eh* that song's one of the vocal highpoints of his career for me...

I love the last 3rd of the song when he's doing the talking, the call-outs, the ad-lib lyrics and I dig his voice's resonance on that "One word is spoken.....too soon and to layeete"
