Anyone else catch this little tidbit from Jeff at BT?

I've been offline for a few weeks and decided to catch up on all the different forums.
I found a thread in BT where someone made the suggestion that, since Jeff is
pretty close with the Queen guys, Journey should do a few gigs or tour with Queen.

Jeff actually replied:
"Already a thought from our side, it will be pursued along with other ideas next year I am sure"

So what would you all think?
I think it would be cool as long as some of the shows were here in the states
and ticket prices weren't outrageous. A full-on tour would be a pretty incredible event...
except that Journey would HAVE to bow down to being an openning band again. Major downfall for
those of us that want a big Journey spectacle in 2008. But it would be pretty interesting...

And the possibility Jeff and Paul singing "Under Pressure" together...
That alone would be worth the price of admission :)

Any thoughts???

YOU asking too much? Never.

I love Queen.. seeing them together with Journey would be awesome.
However.. I dont even want to think about what the ticket prices would be.

If Journey opens for Queen, I am done. There is NO FUCKING way Queen is closing. They aren't as good, period.

I like Jeffs other ideas better. Nix this one I say.

How about Paul Rodgers singing for Journey? Now that I'd love to hear....

The better band? Absolutely.
The bigger draw as the closer? Sadly, probably not.
Where Queen is and always will be held as veritable Legends (even w/o Freddie),
Journey will always be stuck in that "Not Cool" category. I don't agree with it but
I think that's how most would perceive a bill like this, especially in the UK.

An entire tour wouldn't work for me, at least.
But I think the possibilty of a few Stadium dates together would be great.
If people voted the Journey/DL package as the most creative of this past year,
a Queen/Journey package would knock their socks off.

This is true, CH. Queen have always had more credibility than Journey - although still not perhaps as much as they deserve. It wouldn't surprise me to see Queen in a Guilty Pleasures list in the UK music press...

I obviously much prefer Journey myself but I'm not sure I could argue that they were a far superior band to Queen.

Well fuck that. I am not going to see a Euro band, half as good, close every night..and be around that fucking English flag and all that shit motor oil ale, yellow toothed, bad breathed, smelly, hairy fuckheads. NO WAY.

That's kinda funny because Queen didn't really have a lot of credibility here in the U.S. until after Freddie's death AND when "Bohemian Rhapsody" became a hit again thanks to "Wayne's World".

I'm a Queen fan, but I want nothing but Journey in '08. If they release a new album, I think they should tour by themselves.

Actually, you're right about that, Dave. Thinking about it... Freddie's death gave the band a 'seriousness' it had previously lacked here too.

I think Queen's music always had an underlying seriousness to it regardless of all the camp, pomposity, etc., for me at least anyway. That thought takes me back to the "Sheer Heart Attack" album and the short track there "Dear Friends" and other tracks throughout the years.

I agree. i think Queen's music was ALWAYS respected and considered 'great'. But I don't think Freddie got
the enormous credit/respect he deserved as a songwriter/vocalist/showman until his untimely death. And that is unfortunate becase he deserved to be treated that way in life.

Another think I've always loved about Queen is that the other guys in the band seem to have no problem giving props to Freddie and admitting that he was the one that was most responsible for the popularity of the band.

That gets my vote as well.
I wouldn't mind seeing em with other great bands
but my personal choice would be a 3 hr solo show.

Very True. Think about it, even though they all contributed to the great songwriting, could you imagine
anyone else in the world being able to pull those songs off with such pomp/finess/success as Freddie???
Not many people could make classic hits about "Fat-Bottomed Girls" and "Bicycles" :D

no way in H E double hockey sticks, would I see Queen and Journey, with Queen closing the show every night. JOURNEY IS NOT AN OPENING BAND!

OK, IF Freddie was still around I might consider it, but no way with Paul Rodgers fronting the band.

80 minutes of Journey isn't enough, especially having to sit through the dirty dozen (yet again).

Folks, get real. Stop the "I don't want to see Journey with nobody shit." It isn't happening. And get the 3 hour show out of your minds too. That isn't happening ever again either.

It was a disaster. I personally loved it. However, unfortunately, I think Neal and Jon figured there were more Journey fans than there really are. They had to go solo on that tour. They started out with big crowds, because they started out in LA. Notice the 3 hour show was quickly down to 2? Well, we know why now. No way would Jeff sign on for that. No fucking way.

It was ok to see that. Seeing Mystery Mountain, Patiently, and Daydream was cool, but that was a once in a lifetime thing.

At this point,I am telling you if enough $$$ are involved, it will happen. These guys are looking for more sales in Europe whether through tickets or cd's,especially at their age. I don't think ego or pride enters their visions at this time in their lives. I think Neal mentioned that they have overtoured the U S or taking a yr off in the U. S. If you ask me he has had this plan since Jeff joined and now they have an offer. Jeff is extremely popular in Europe. Live with it.

These guys NEED to tour. They can't afford not to. They will always play the United States. That is their bread and butter.

Deano -I didn't say they would not always play the U S but they are eager to test the Euro market. I don't think they have any plans to play here this summer is all.

The UK press often slated Queen.
In the beginning they got some real stick.
Then when they did Live Aid and stole the show, suddenly their popularity soared. I'd say Live Aid was the turning point for them. What do you think, Matthew?
And when Freddie died, they were elevated even higher. And of course, many of the journos who had slated them became the ones heaping most praise on them.

Their live show with Freddie was always a great night out.
Aaah the memories. 8)
