And Strangegrey raises the point, he couldn't conjure up any tension on TBF. Just hollow songs. And he was a fuckin Journey know-it-all who knew NOTHING in every interview.
Anyway that chapter's closed, surely and they're thankfully not going back so no use bashing him anymore.

Next Journey album should have a MAXIMUM of 1 ballade. Hell, this isn't '96 or even 2001 anymore, no sense in throwing 5-6 ballads at the wall to see which one sticks as "THE NEXT OPEN ARMS." They're not beholden to the airwaves anymore.

Hell even the Generations songs that were on radio were TPIYH and FITH, rockers.

I have to agree with this. The actual song isn't one of Journey's "fluffier" ballads by a long shot, in my opinion.

Kevin S liked his production on Arrival but not TBF. GEnerations was a great cd, only bad thing Kevin E's production was great on all songs. Didn't flow good from one song to the next (Maybe if songs had been in a different order that could have been corrected)-ERIC

Now I know this doesn't apply to every band, but I tend to think a shorter album...say one of 8-10 songs usually turns out to be a better album than one with 13-15 songs. It's easier for me to give a new album a listen if there are only 8-10 songs on it, rather than one with 15. After 5 or 6 songs from one particular band, I get too much overload! Plus, your not as likely to get an album with fillers on it if the band keeps it to a max of 10 songs. Again, not saying that Journey isn't capable of putting out a great album that has 15 songs on it, but with their last two full length albums, there were songs in which I skip over and hardly ever listen to. However, Petra's last album (don't know if any of you are into Christian rock) only had like 8 songs on it, but every one of them were considered "hit songs" that I could listen to. Does that make any sense?

As in regards to the rock vs. ballad issue. I definitely agree that if you are going to have a record of 10 songs, no more than two ballads. I think 6 rockers, 2 mid-tempos, and 2 ballads would be perfect.
