What will "Winds Of Freedom" be???

Rocker?
Arena Anthem?
Power Ballad?

Thoughts?

I'll guess power ballad. Only because running the title through my head it only seems to make sense in a slower song as the chorus.

But then again, and I mean no disrespect to your thread carlitto. Who the hell cares - IT'S NEW JOURNEY MUSIC!!!!
Isn't that what everyone wants right now?

I think "upbeat anthem/rocker". I can't see the first Journey tune with JSS being a ballad. They gotta come out swinging.

I must have missed something! Is this the name of Journey's new song?

Yeah, it's the one they're singing at the America's Cup Barb. I'm thinking sort of mid tempo anthemish. I'm not sure what catagory that fits into.

I'm guessing you mean something in the vein of FITH?
Mid-Tempo, Anthem-ish, Emotional...
That would work.
Hell, FITH would probably go well in Va these days, as well.

I just hope it's not a political song. I can't take anymore political musicians.

I can't wait to hear it though!

I think of the Heartland more as the Iowa/Nebraska/Kansas/Missouri area but I think you're right about the tempo.

Sure, it's possible. I guess I was just more excited for a Schon/Soto sampling. :D

Well didn't Jeff say that Neal and Jon wrote it and he was adding his touches to it? I'm still betting on something mid tempo and anthemish.

Does anyone else think the title might need a rethink? I can't decide if it reminds me more of Spinal Tap's Break Like The Wind or of the sort of Lee Greenwood, flag-waving crap you might hear at a Republican Party convention.

So what are you saying, Matty?
You think Wings Of Freedom might actually be
a song about Constipation Relief???

And believe me, especially being in the military and
having to hear that fucking song over and over and over...
I FUCKING HATE THAT LEE GREENWOOD SONG!!!

Hoping for something Swedish/Nordic Death Metal sounding. Either that or some hardcore bluegrass.

You too? In boot camp, 400A, that fuckin song played. We were made to sing along to it. Half our platoon were better singers than that cocksuckin Greenwood.

I just hope it has some catchy hooks. I thought a lot of the material (except for about five songs) on Generations was kind of meandering with no real direction and no strong hooks.

More INfo and I quote straight from the Horses Mouth!!!!!!

JSS "Quick reply...I just demo-ed Wings Of Freedom yesterday but unfortunately this version won't be heard before the show as it's more a work tape for us all to learn from in rehearsing it next week...as well, it's basically a drum program, keyboard bass, keys done by Jon & Neal on guitars, not the full band. It sounds killer if I might say so, a testiment of what's to come. It's starts off kinda like When You Love A Woman but it's not a traditional Journey ballad, especially lyrically."
