OT: "I think we're being shut down..."

....to quote Bono, from the "Streets Have No Name" video....

Hey, all.....  :( :(

Well, that's it.... I honestly don't know what else to do:

Our Guitarist is quitting, and we need a Bass player.

So, right now, things are NOT looking "rosey" for TRAG.

Unless a freakin' miracle happens, I think this is the end of the line for us.

.....speechless....

Old cliche' = but when one door closes another one opens. This might mean a break is mandatory, but DO NOT GIVE UP!!!! time to sit back and write some heavy stuff. Maybe your band is moving.......
take care!

I know a lot of musicians in Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts. Let me know if you want some contacts - a few of them aren't in a band right now, and they're into the melodic/hard rock stuff.

What steve said. I know you must have a heavy heart today, so get drunk and call an old friend. That'll make you feel better. Don't let the band die, you can find other players. You might even improve it. Good luck with it.

DON'T give up.

In three years, our band had employed:

6 guitarists
5 bass players

With most of our member changes, we improved our lineup, never cancelled a gig (using fill-ins when necessary) and we have more bookings now than ever. Our 2007 calendar is closed and we are now booking '08.

Get a ad out in your local newspaper asap, and put an ad on Harmony Central. Post ads in your local music stores.

Ask all those you know who have Myspace accounts to post bulletin ads with your band's info, area, stlye and contacts. I'd be happy to help.

Never say it's over. If you want Trag to continue, then make it happen.

Thanx you guys....really...from the bottom of my heart....

Crying and laughing right now.....

HELL NO I'M NOT GIVING UP!!!!

MySpace WILL be up and running by the end of this week!

We've gotten the word out, as suggested....also, Mark & I went out to see Al Ferrante & his Jazz Group on Saturday night...

...oh, for those of you who don't know, Mr. Ferrante toured with the Edgar Winter Group, and was the Guitar Instructor for John Mayer, who is from the same area here, in CT.

Besides the TRAG thing, I gave him my Business Card, and told him that if he or anyone he knows needs a Demo Singer, or Backup Singer, I am available ASAP...

....unemployed, and ALWAYS THINKING.....

Oh, and another thing:

Here's an excerpt of an interview Mark & I did in late 06 ~ which, irony of ALL ironies, I received in my email approximately one hour before the phone call from our Guitarist:

And Deano....Dude, you can come out swinging with what I say about Steve....right now, I DON'T CARE

http://www.rocknetwebzine.com/interview ... anese.html

"Nora: Nobody knows what to do with us up here in the northeast. I swear to God, nobody knows what to do with us because we’re not a cover band.

Interviewer: Yeah, I know that’s a problem up there. You either have to be a cover band or you have to do the cookie monster [death-metal] thing.

Nora: Yeah, and we don’t. I’m 39 and Mark is 44 years old and we represent the Gen X thing. When I wrote the cover letter of the press kit it’s like we play real music. Original music. We do everything ourselves and we bring back the musicianship and the music that the Gen X remembers from 20 years ago. We bring that back for them in the 21st century. I wrote that. I came up with that and people are like “yeah, you’re right. Tell us about it. You absolutely do.” Well, that’s the whole point. That’s the whole reason why I got into this 20 years ago for myself.

Tell you a little bit about myself. I got into music and I got into being a singer because of Steve Perry. I’m not going to mince words. He’s the whole reason why I do what I do. He’s absolutely fabulous. I saw him in 1983 on the Frontiers tour, 1986 Raised By Radio tour, and for the solo tour for Strange Medicine. I went all the way to New York state up in Poughkeepsie to go see him. He is just the top of the line and I’ve always admired his work ethic. He’s so focused. There’s just something about that that makes me want to do that. I want to be like that. I want to have that discipline and I just grabbed on to that and ran with it.

At the same time on a technical end, I went the Pat Benatar route. I studied classical training because I hear that’s what she did but then she could turn around and sing this throaty rock chick kind of thing. It sounds like it’s ripping her throat out but it’s not because she’s got the training and she knows what she’s doing. It’s like the technical and the passion thing of Pat Benatar and Steve Perry. That’s why I do what I do because it’s just amazing. I just always knew I was going to do something with this and it took me 20 years but you know what? I don’t care because now we’re getting ourselves out there and I don’t care how old I am. I don’t care that we’re up against all that Britney stuff and everything"

Don't give up Nora. They're out there for you. Every band goes through transitions. Keepin' it all crossed for you.

I LOVE that last paragraph. It sums up a lot of what I feel about fighting to be successful in music. Hang in there and it WILL get better.

Chin up Nora! You and Mark are passionate musicians,of course you can't give up what you love doing!
There are plenty of available musicians out there, just let them know you're looking for them and give it another shot.

Put up an ad on Myspace when it'll be ready and they'll come.

The best of luck to you & Mark.

Inspiring story, Nora. You are a breath of fresh air on this Forum! Don't let anyone, any circumstance or assumption hold you back. Obstacles are necessary for success as in all challenges, victory comes after many struggles and countless defeats. Yet each struggle, each defeat, sharpens your skills and strengths, your courage, endurance, your ability and your confidence, therefore each obstacle is a comrade-in-arms, a bridge if you will, to future dreams.

You chose a great role model! :)

Nora, you've always a future in the business, still playing your CD on a regular basis honey, so keep your chin up and something good will happen

Nora,

As someone said previously, that SUCKS! But you have the drive and the talent to achieve all of your dreams. Remember Perry talking about his feelings when Alien Project's bass player was killed right before they signed with a label? He said something to the effect that every time a big opportunity came along, something even bigger came and knocked it out of the way... and you see where he ended up

I know you have what it takes to make all your dreams come true. God bless!

Kim

Maybe younger persons studying music in college, from your area, would love the opportunity. Even Perry almost gave up. So go for it with him in mind.

Well, no....let me correct that:

I saw the one ep where Kramer was the New York City Carriage Driver...and fed the horse Chili...

The horse had Chili-farts all throughout the carriage ride...almost knocked Kramer off his seat!!

Now THAT'S MY humor!!
