Perry and Dean Castronovo a good team?

O.K i am bored and there is little Journey news! If and BIG if Perry returned to Journey and as much as i would love the original line up back i would rather have Dean than Steve Smith.
Dont get me wrong Steve Smith is a superb drummer but so is Dean and what a singer, what ever Perry may lack in range in his later years he and Dean singing together would sound amazing.Plus he is a great backing singer something that many bands lack hence the use of tapes used so much these days....your thoughts? 8)

Perry would have to play drums and sing only a couple of songs a night and Deen isn't interested in stepping out front.

And he hasn't been interested in doing anything else for 20 years either ('cept for parts of '94,95,96).

Yeah,I know...
The "Loon" in me would say "So what,he has the right to remain silent."

But the true fan in me says "What a waste".I wish he would have done much more.

Except for finding his sanity...enjoying his millions...and preserving his dignity and reputation. Perhaps that's why you've got such a bug up your arse about this guy? He's living the life most of us can only dream about.

No, he was doing that when he was a rock star.

No dark path...I think they would sound great together...but it isn't going to happen...Steve was the best and now he chooses to try to have a "normal" life....why can't peeps get it thru their heads....I know we all loved him so much that we just don't want to let go of any hope but we have to for our sanity....

We now have Jeff( thank god and Neal still) so there will be music and touring...what more could u ask for? At least we still have Journey to look forward to...

Good luck guys with the new album....i will be first in line to purchase it.---granny

Not sure if Steves voice is what it used to be or not, but to make it interesting, I'd like to think that both Deens and Steves voices on many songs may sound too much alike. At least with Perry and Rolie, they both had good voices, but different styles and sounds, so the duets were interesting. Perry and Deen dueting wouldn't differ enough. Just my opinion

Well not so sure about Perry singing with Deen, but I really enjoyed the way Perry's and Rolie's voices harmonized VERY well together!

I miss Gregg Rolie far more than I do Steve Perry, even though it would be awesome to hear them team up again.

It'd be awesome if Rolie, Perry, Smitty, Randy, and Tickner all teamed up to make a band. Imagine the naming disputes.

That's my opinion also T-Bone. Just love the contrast between Perry and Rollie's vocals. And as much as Smitty is a huge talent, I'd be curious to see what Deen could bring to the original lineup. Deen is a great drummer in his own right and a lot more fun to watch. Then there is that little matter of that great voice.

Yup, multiple Perrys would make it sound like ROR. :?

I've been mad ever since he turned a great rock band into a raised on radio pop tart factory. Granted JC and NS deserve a smaller share of the blame.

That was 21 years ago, NMT. Maybe it's time you got over it?

Also - Journey were a pop tart factory long before ROR came out. Unless you think Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin' is somehow the work of a cool and inaccessible underground rock group...in which case maybe you need to broaden your record collection a bit.

I'm just saying your gushing over Perry (summarizing my impression of your posts here over many months) would give me the impression that you were female, were your name not Matthew. Plenty of guys here praise the talent Perry had but don't seem so infatuated with the person. I don't mean that to sound like I mean anything sexual, just for lack of a better word.

Interestingly...I don't see you making this point to the various guys who suck up to Neal Schon the whole time on this forum.

As for Perry...well, maybe one day I'll realise that I'm a raging homo with a thing for 80s soft rock singers...but for now I think I'm just a straightforward fan who loves the talent and is essentially sympathetic to the guy...from what little I know of him.

You have to remember NMT that plenty of regulars here almost obsessively judge and criticize Perry "as a person" ....like they're amazed somehow that the guy has faults and - shock! - behaved like a egomaniac rock star at times. Just because I'm not joining in with this pitiful whining about the guy doesn't mean I'm "gushing".

I like your posts Matthew. You're postings are insightful to read. I think you do a real good job of explaining how you feel about the music etc.. WITHOUT making any snide remarks and rude comments in your posts, that's what makes your postings enjoyeable to read. :)

Keep up the good postings! :D

Good point. And we have SP to thank for that one as the sole writer.

Poor guy wrote 2 songs. :o
The overall "pop-tart" factor must be divided by 3,although I wouldn't really get Schon into the formula as he wasn't a Mary Poppins fan.
However,"Poppins" brought them the fanbase, the cash and the legend status,so I guess Neal didn't mind after all.At least, just like he confessed,he loved the sight of the female fans in the audience (BTM). :)

And what about Cain who sat down and wrote a pop-tart tune for his sweetheart, then in came Perry and they ultimately turned that into a masterpiece?

Well now, getting back to the topic of the thread again, Hmmm, I wonder how Deen and Rolie would sound singing together, and what songs would they choose?

Why the hell is it soooooo friggin hard for some people to Answer a question and stick with that specific topic? Seriously! Some of you really need to get lives. You eat, breathe and shit on these Forums daily. Go outside for a while. Not everything in life needs to involve a Perry Bashing or Perry Defensive

Stay on topic, or don't post... pretty simple

Because nothing Perry related can be kept on topic here. It is simpy beyond a few narrow minded morons to accept another persons view and not hijack the thread for their own ego inflating reasons.

BE VERY AWARE FOLKS - I'M DONE WITH WARNINGS. People are going to be removed from this board if any more of this shit continues.
