I like both for different reasons, but I give the edge to CTTL for overall musicianship and originality. What's your opinion?

Can't choose one over the other.
Neither are my favorites from TBF, but I enjoy both of 'em.

I voted for CTTL.
To me, it brings back the "magic" of Journey, circa 1981.
And, ya gotta love the
"THANK YOU, GOODNIGHT!!" - sounding concert ending.

I NEVER could get in to CTTL. Message of Love anyday, if those are the only two choices. There are better (in my opinion) songs on the CD than even MOL, though.

Can't stand either of them.
MOL is just SW cut up, sliced up, diced and played side-ways
and CTTL sounds like a left-over reject from the ROR sessions.

Both had SO much potential. Kick-ass, epic songs with good melodies and instrumentation.
HUGE downfall:
Both had pathetic, sucky lyrics.
My friends all gooed themselves in the opening seconds of both songs when I played them for 'em, but really lost interest when Perry cut in with ridiculously trite lyrics. I felt their pain but the instrumentation was so great, I stuck around. Neal, Smitty, and Ross just PWN on these two tracks.

For further reference:
One More can take MOL and CTTL both at the same time, while blindfolded and tied to an anvil.

They coulda just threw all the lyrics together and made
one good song instead of 2 crappy ones
I, walk alone in the dark, with you
In the midst of a dream I swear I saw you... standing there
And deep, in the shadows I run, without you
In a sea of emotion with faithful devotion... you were there
And here, here I stand, the king of fools
In heat of the night under the street lights... once again
Now Love's here, where are you
At the edge of the fire for the love of the jungle... again and again, oh yeah
Baby can you hear me
(They can’t tame the lion)
Can you hear me callin'
(Can’t tame the lion)
Baby can you hear my Message of love

I totally agree! Can't Tame The Lion fully pushed the envelope. Very edgy! Great Rock N Roll!

I know there are better songs than both on TBF, trying to cut one for our set this weekend. Looks like MOL completely has the edge.
I do have to say though that for balls out solo shredding, you cannot beat the ending of Can't Tame The Lion....Would love to see Journey end a concert with CTTL, then at the ending swell, count off 4 and go right into Be Good To Yourself. What a finale!

Need to learn that one! It's such a dark song though - May not be the best one to pull out in a happy, inspiring type of concert setting.

Can I vote for Still She Cries? That's my favorite on TBF. I'd say MOL and CTTL (and One More) are average Journey songs at best. Still She Cries is haunting and beautiful, though.

I completely forgot about SSC. That's my favorite "ballad" that Journey has done. Neal's solo gives me shivers every time. Every member of the band is absolutely on top of that song.

ah, see... I didn't know you were pruning the set list when I said there's better songs than either, but I've still gotta go with MOL over CTTL for that.
Fuck, I'm jealous I can't get to a place to see you guys play live.

Well, I guess Message Of Love would be more recognizable to a crowd.. CTTL freakin ROCKS, though!
Do both and see what happens!

I chose MOL, and CTTL is good, but I have some other songs on TBF that I like much more.
