My mother's a huge Loon and I want to make her a Journey-themed multimedia presentation for today.

CatEyes wrote:Altho Jon Cain wrote the song, Mr. P has mentioned in a few interviews that when she was ill and he was on the road, whenever she would see the vid for "Faithfully" and it got to the part where he was shaving his moustache, she would cry and someone would call him so she could talk to him and he could calm her.
Allegedly, around that time, when Journey was in the studio, there was a helicopter so Perry could travel back and forth as needed immediately.
It reached a point where he took the time off and stayed by her side to the end.

the helicopter part is from the ROR recordings, not Frontiers.

I've been up working on some new songs, and I have to get up in four hours to drive my son to school...first lesson is at 10:00, then straight through until 4:00. Why am I still up? Good question. Ah, the music, she is in my blood, no?
Shania, what about "Back Talk"? Or was that written by his mom? Either way, I can't decide if that song or "Castles Burning" gets my vote for worst Journey song ever...there are only a few I don't like, so it's kind of difficult.
In all seriousness, though (and I should get out your book as a reference but I'm too stubborn and tired), was "One More Time" written for her? My God, that song makes me cry every time I listen to it...I can only handle it once every few months. It seems to manifest everything that's ever broken my heart over the years...

According to Cain, these 2 songs are bookends and not about Mrs P, but one about going head-over-heels for a terrific piece and then one about moving on when the inevitable happens.
Just one more thing that makes ROR so cool to me.
"IBAWY is really the second part of OYLS." ----Friga.

I didn't say it was from Frontiers - just from when his mother was dying.

Just curious, what disease did his Mom have?
