Cool! Would've loved to have seen them live on that tour. Didn't get to see them until '86. Perry was saying how great it was that Journey fans still came out after they had been gone "so long" - all of 3 years. Back then, 3 years was practically a lifetime.

The anniversary of my 1983 Journey show is still a few weeks away. I remember that concert was on the last day of my freshman year in high school. That was a great way to start summer vacation after a crappy year!

I saw them Friday, July 8th in '83. They did 3 shows in Dallas that weekend. It was a great show, but for me, the Escape show in '81 was better. In the '83 show, they had all the songs sped up. SP was starting to struggle with his voice more and they did everything in hyperspeed. Still a great great show. The speed thing was offset by a bigger stage with big screens and more lights that weren't present in the '81 show. Great thread Nora.

in '83.. wow ,, i had a trans am ,, with t-tops,, kiss and journey buttons on a rock n roll "do" rag tied to my rear view mirror and along the inside top of the upholstrey,. tuck and roll ,, ya know..recaro seats.. black and gold.. ,, white lettered tires with gold craiger wheels.. took out a girl-- first date-- to the sizzler..debra, she hated it ,, she loved adam ant.. we listened to Time after Time and Ratt Round and Round.. maybe Thriller..or Quiet Riots metal health!! i think we had a conversation about who was the best V-J on MTV,, i liked JJ jackson,,she liked Nina Blackwood..

i may have taken her to see Flashdance,, i might have had a pair Kaepa's with the 2 shoe laces,, or some green striped nikes...a year later i wore red converses exclusively.. even bought a white jacket like miami vice.. i didnt start wearing white pants until the ROR videos started to appear in '86.. i was 5'5 and weighed a buck 25 and could play the RIGHT side of KARATICA (#2 player) like nobodys business.. i was feared because of my fake round house to backwards sweep kick!..

Since I have been traveling around Texas (and once to Nevada) to see Journey, it was great to see how many dates they played in Texas "back in the day". On the Frontiers remastered album, I think I counted 8 dates in Texas. We usually get 3 now (sometimes less), and I consider that to be thrilling. 8 dates now would probably give me a heart attack!!

Isn't it amazing how to some people it was just another concert, but to others it was the start of their "Journey addiction"? I was always amazed how some people didn't like Journey back then. I always wondered what was wrong with them.
