Country music hasn't been good in 20 years. With the exception of a very select few, it's been all studio produced bullshit.

yea, there are a select few for sure. I think Reba is the real deal, but Garth was a hoax! George Strait sounded 100% awful tonight too.
I wonder what Kenny Chesney sounds like in real time?

I only ever liked Alabama back in the day. Other than, there are a song or two here or there that I like but not much.

Garth was a hoax? What do you mean by that? Have you ever been to a Garth Brooks concert?

I HATE country music, but a girlfriend of mine got me tickets to see Brooks one time, and he was unbelievable. I was able to overlook the fact his music sucked. He didn't write "The Dance", either.

Clint Black is going to burn in hell for that song, "Iraq and Roll". If there was ever a song that was representative of everything the rest of the world hates about the United States, that asshole managed to put it all in one song.

YOU CAN WAVE YOUR SIGNS IN PROTEST
AGAINST AMERICA TAKING STANDS
THE STANDS AMERICA'S TAKEN
ARE THE REASON THAT YOU CAN

IF EVERYONE WOULD GO FOR PEACE
THERE'D BE NO NEED FOR WAR
BUT WE CAN'T IGNORE THE DEVIL
HE'LL KEEP COMING BACK FOR MORE

SOME SEE THIS IN BLACK AND WHITE
OTHERS ONLY GRAY
WE'RE NOT BEGGING FOR A FIGHT
NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY

WE HAVE THE RESOLUTION
THAT SHOULD PUT'EM ALL TO SHAME
BUT IT'S A DIFFERENT KIND OF DEADLINE
WHEN I'M CALLED IN THE GAME

I RAQ, I RACK'EM UP AND I ROLL
I'M BACK AND I'M A HIGH TECH GI JOE
I PRAY FOR PEACE, PREPARE FOR WAR
AND I NEVER WILL FORGET
THERE'S NO PRICE TOO HIGH FOR FREEDOM
SO BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU TREAD

THIS TERROR ISN'T MAN TO MAN
THEY CAN BE NO MORE THAN COWARDS
IF THEY WON'T SHOW US THEIR WEAPONS
WE MIGHT HAVE TO SHOW THEM OURS

IT MIGHT BE A SMART BOMB
THEY FIND STUPID PEOPLE TOO
AND IF YOU STAND WITH THE LIKES OF SADDAM
ONE JUST MIGHT FIND YOU

I ROCK, I RACK'EM UP AND I ROLL
I'M BACK AND I'M A HIGH TECH GI JOE
I'VE GOT INFRARED, I'VE GOT GPS
AND I'VE GOT THAT GOOD OLD FASHIONED LEAD
THERE'S NO PRICE TOO HIGH FOR FREEDOM
SO BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU TREAD

NOW YOU CAN COME ALONG
OR YOU CAN STAY BEHIND
OR YOU CAN GET OUT OF THE WAY
BUT OUR TROOPS TAKE OUT THE GARBAGE
FOR THE GOOD OLD U.S.A.

I ROCK, I RACK'EM UP AND I ROLL
IN THE USA
I ROCK, I RACK'EM UP AND I ROLL
I'M TALKIN' ABOUT THE USA

Stupid, ignorant, thick-headed hicktown butterball. Clint Black...I'd gladly kick his ass over this.

Garth is the only "country" concert I've ever been to and I thought he was great. Not a big country fan. Now we have rockers going country, what the hell? :? I like Keith Urban (good singer/guitarist) but then again he is more country-rock. :)

Rascall Flatts.... now theres a great band with a great singer too..... bands like this are really the "new" melodic rock bands.... producing quality music, great melodies, good musicianship.... they are really soft rock bands with a slight country tinge.... ace!!

Try listening to Emerson Drive too (the first two CD's, not the last one, which was back to roots , Country sounding... yuck!!)

and maybe female fronted "Sugarland" .... Taylor Swift is ok too ...great songs .... some Martina McBride ..good singer (love her song "Phones Are Ringin'" ..makes me shiver..what a ballad!!) ... some melodic rock sensibilities in her stuff for sure .... all this stuff is a million times better than the Indie Rock shit that the UK produces in droves.... bands like Keane, Coldplay, Manic St Preachers etc etc... couldn't write a decent rock /pop song if they had 50 years to do it!

The US music scene is soooooo much better!

Ive only discovered these artists by surfin the web, and doin some detective work... this stuff just doesnt feature in the UK at all..... no one has ever heard of Rascall Flatts here..... unbelievable!!! Try buyin a CD ..and you have to order it on import!!! .... help! get me off this godforsaken island...away from Tony Blair.... persecution of the motorist, and the unbelievable level of surveillance that goes on here.. (big brother is here)... oh, and we all get ripped off here ,...prices of goods are way too high here, and house prices too!! and to cap it all... most boroughs here have just gone to "fortnightly" refususe collections...... despite tonnes of protest, along with the tonnes of foul garbage that lies here, waiting to be collected.... !!!! Moan moan.. whinge whinge.....

I used to listen to Garth in the early 90s, absolutely adored him. I think that was the beginning of the end of decent music IMO. :?

Garth Brooks is about the only *current* country music I can stand to listen to. Maybe one or two songs by some others but I don't normally listen to country at all.

My wife has helped me to like some of it. I like Rascal Flatts, SOME Tim McGraw, Dixie Chicks, etc. Some country music is what pop used to be. You may be pleasantly surprised if you give it a chance.

Oh I don't know Mr Wishes that song might be arrogant
but at least it didn't have words like "Take off Eh!" and
"ya Hoosier" in it, after that lil song Canada was never
taken seriously.

Well, Bon Jovi and Sammy Hagar are making inroads into country music. I think they find it to be fertile musical ground.

They've also come to the realization that they no longer have the voices to hang in rock. They're simply going down to Triple-A. WARNING: Not a fuckin' word about Perry, NIG :x Don't mention Hagar or JBJ in the same breath as The Voice.

Hagar can still bring it. True about BJ, though. But his voice does suit country. And Sammy's whole lifestyle makes coutry a perfect style for him to dabble in.

Absolutely ....... it seems to me that there is no true "Country Music" anymore - not that I am a fan ..... however several years ago when all that "cross-over" began to happen.

I really hate merged genres ........

I agree on all the above.Today's country is one of the good musical getaways from the crap that's invading the "charts".

My personal favorites are Big & Rich.Great country-rock band.
Also, whenever Faith Hill or Shania Twain are country&rollin',it's a treat to my ears. 8)
